My apologies if this has been answered before. Wasnt really sure what to search for. Anyway, recently decided to dable in opiates and never really experienced any euphoria that would make me want to continue.

60mg oxy IR oral - Made me itchy
80mg oxy crushed and drank - felt sick
30mg oxy IR insuffilated - felt somewhat high and REALLY itchy. Tried M somethings and A 215's
60mg morphone pill - Got rid of a migraine but no euphoria.
Heroin - smoked - Extremely tired and relaxed but nothing amazing like others describe.
Codeine - CWI - 20 pills I think. Felt pretty good. Nice and relaxed, helped my insomnia. Nothing magical though.

Whats the deal? Im not willing to shoot or shove shit up my ass. Am I just special and only get the painkilling effect without the euphoria people describe? I've had similar experiences with other drugs. Marijuana makes me paranoid, etc.. Only substances that I really enjoy are good coala and benzo's. I do take SSRI's, not sure if that matters. Would leave to hear some feedback from the experts!

stick to benzos my man.anyone who is in withdrawal right now and reading what u had,is going to feel even worse now.

Ok, I can't comment about the oxy but even if you have no tolerance 60mg of morphine is not going to do a great deal taken orally. In addition, if it was a ER pill (like MS-Contin) then the drug will have been released gradually, thus reducing recreational effects further. What sort of heroin was it and do you have confirmation of it quality (even if it's medicore has someone who would know confirmed that it wasn't very good gear?)? Many types of heroin are not intended to be smoked and can be very dissapointing if you try- the cuts that are used can also influence how well it smokes (cut with caffeine burns well, lactose burns badly).

The fact that you note a histamine reaction (itching, feeling sick) indicates that you're taking an appropriate dose...maybe you're just one of those lucky folk who just don't get off on opiates? You've taken the equivilant of a minimum of a quarter of a gram of morphine in total- maybe you should stick your dollars back in your wallet and find something you actually enjoy?

i'd say you need to dabble some more but that's terrible advice. Morphine is not very effective orally (you should have shoved that one up your ass at least lol). Some people just don't like oxycodone, and I wouldn't recommend drinking while on it. The fact you felt something decent from codeine shows that you aren't immune. Maybe it has something to do with how you experience euphoria from other drugs, I find opiates to be a bit more subtle. I don't really enjoy them either, the constipation and itching are annoying along with nausea when you take too much. Benzos are certainly worse for you though. I enjoy them a lot too, much more than anything else. I liked hydrocodone, maybe give it a shot, it's more sedating for me. If you like downers and hate any stimulation I think that's a good explanation as to why you haven't really enjoyed opiates so far. And if you like to feel sedated throw some anti-histamines in there, they potentiate opiates, help with itchiness and nausea too.

DONT KNOW WHERE TO POST THIS... I have a Rx for ms contin (morphine s.) 15mg. I am used to taking 3 oxy 30's in the am 2 around lunch and a few before bed, I eat them... I was wondering if anyone knew about how many Morphine 15's it would take (SHOULD TAKE) to add up to a oxy 30.... I took about 20 over the course of 12 hours today and didnt feel SHIT.... BUT i dont want to DIE!! but I think a long time ago I took a few 100mg morphines.... I dont know can someone help me??!! thank you ***clueless in hawaii***

ms contin is so annoying to have, dam slow realease.. just take a few at a time if you have small tolerance.... dont be silly and much aload down because you dont feel anything, it is in my view in the most dangerous thing about slow release opiates, people take a couple, dont feel anything for an hour, then much a load more, then a while later they get fuked up... seen it happen.

I've had similar experiences to you - honestly, I think some people just react differently to some drugs. My best friend (before he went completely off the rails and cut contact with everyone) was a heroin addict, so personally I count myself lucky opiates never 'did it' for me.

I get high off opiates but I dont like all the main opiates. I dont use oxycodone anymore because I just dont care for the stimulating & irritable feelings it gives me but some people love the drug. I enjoy sedating opiates, but I dont "love" opiates the way some people do. I started by taking hydrocodone prescribed for back pain & still use them for pain. I have never taken more than 30mgs of hydrocodone in one sitting.

You should count yourself lucky that you dont feel the "love" for opiates like others do.

^This is a little snipped worth remembering, see the dark side forum for A LOAD more.

I don't think you will ever get the full effect of opiates at those levels seeing as you have tried quite a lot with no adequate response. I remember taking 10-20mg or so of oxycodone back in the days while watching a laid back college acoustic concert surrounded by my friends and girlfriend and I literally cried I was so overly happy and euphoric.

I also agree with Losty above that now that I have a tolerance and have tried all the opiates (except heroin damnit) I prefer sedating opiates to oxy. Hydromorphone (dilaudid) has to be my best so far.

I think you'r just expecting opiates to b some magical high. Th effects you described show that the drugs are working, you just arent enjoying them

It sounds like you just don't get euphoria from opiates for some reason, the effects you described are effects of an opiate high so they definitely hit you, but I guess for some reason you just don't enjoy the drug as much as the average user does. You should honestly consider this as a good thing, as opiate addiction is the most painful, miserable, and torturous form of addiction to go through. It is definitely not worth getting addicted to a drug you don't even enjoy taking, as most addicts enjoyed the effects greatly but still don't feel that the blissful high is worth all the pain of withdrawal. Opiates are not a drug you enjoy, so just don't do them and consider yourself lucky that you didn't fall in love with them the moment you tried them, at the end of the day thank god that you're not a suicidal opiate slave.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Sounds like opiates are not for me and I'll just move on.

@Those who ask what meds I take. 40Mg citalopram daily (SSRI) and melatonin\themaine sleep suppliment to sleep.

I've been on the citalopram for about 6 years. First month I started smoking weed I started getting panick atacks and extreme general anxiety as a result even after stopping smoking so I am now forced to be on ssri's for the rest of my life.

Not sure how relevant but here is list of drugs if consumed besides opiates if it is relavent:
Meth - Teethy grindy and awake. Not really high or anything.
Salvia - Other world fun times, really enjoyed.
Cocaine - Rush and intense focus
Adderall - Talkative, alert, focused.
Ganja - Few times. Blacked out, saw snow flakes. Extreme paranoia and anxiety.
Alchohol - Drug of choice but alcoholism runs in my family so I try not to partake very often.
I do have a prescription for ativan(loreazapam) but I dont take it unless I need it. And I need about 6mg for any affect. I have no tolorence, it just doesn't hit me.

I was looking at opiates as a way to relax every once and a while but I guess I'll look for something else.

you could have overly active enzymes. explains why codeine was effective for you, and also explains why you felt little from oxy, or rather you felt your high for a short period of time (30minutes-1hour), and then only remained the itching, am i correct? morphine does have rather low oral BA so i sort of expect the results from it.

after a while of taking opiates with benzos, i no longer get the same experience with opiates alone. they just don't hit the spot without some xanax or klonopin. i'd rather save my opiates for when i have benzos so i can feel that awesome again. in other words, different strokes for different folks. some people would trade their lives' away for opiates, and some people, like you, don't get much from them. some people are poly-drug users and abuse multiple drugs while others have one D.O.C. and wouldn't spend their lives any other way.....

Interesting theory about the enzyme's. I have a fairly addictive tendencies (borderline alcoholic at one point in my life) so I'll just count myself lucky, considering opiates seem to be hard to quit. I would consider myself an adventurous person too which is why I tried so many diff opiates. Guess its just not for me. I'm not overweight or anything 6ft 200lbs give or take and I've always needed double whatever is prescribed (xanax, vicodin, ssri's etc). Did a bit of research on my own and I guess only certain percentage of people get that "holy shit this is awesome" feeling from opiates. Oh well!

your experience sounds completely normal to me. It took me a long time to get euphoria from opiates and I still don't always get it even though I regularly use heroin now. Just keep taking opiates and eventually you will experience the euphoria they provide.

That's absurd. You don't need to be on SSRIs the "rest of your life" because of some weed induced panic. I went through years of hellish anxiety from weed and I refused to stop smoking it despite that. WHen I finally did, the anxiety and panic attacks took years to dissipate. But they eventually did, with no SSRIs.

That's great to know that someone had the same issue and bounced back without the SSRI crutch. Just wanted to add that while you were able to function without meds I couldn't leave the house so I really had no choice... I may cut back my dose and see what happens. THX
