In my head
I haven't touched any opiate since sometime friday and it was codeine, so it was quickly out of my system with it's short halflife. I haven't experienced a single withdrawal since. I was on 25mg most days, sometimes 50 and some days 0.8mg bupe instead, but codeine for the most part.

I have, however, since friday been on d-amphetamine, and I was wondering if it's even remotely possible that's why I haven't experienced or perhaps noticed the wd's. I mean, amp DOES release dopamine, right? I know it's not by binding to an opioid receptor though...

So could this possible mean what I sincerely hope it does? That I'm clean? I'm not addicted to any other substances, like benzos or the amp I mentioned earlier...

Oh, and I just want to add that I come from a serious heroin and later methadone habbit.

How long were you using it for? 25-50mg really is a small dose, so even if you did get wds off them, they'd be very mild.

Agreed with nAON, 50mg isn't something to be concerned about. You're clean.

Heroin, methadone and bupe for years. Then I eventually switched to codeine 100mg a day split in 4 doses. Then I tapered down to 25mg once a day. That took me a few weeks I guess. But I've tried kicking 25 or maybe it was 50mg codeine before AND experienced wd's, but not this time, so I thought either it's because I've been on codeine longer and the wd's are therefore, as you said, milder, or it's because the amp is somehow keeping me addicted. But I find option number two to be next to impossible.

Edit: I didn't make it in time to see loulou's post, but man, am I happy to hear you say that. I've been trying to get rid of this addiction for years!!

I'd say you're pretty well clean my friend, so long as there were no fairly high doses of Methadone or Bupe in the past few days you would be feeling withdrawal from even those by now. You were probably still far more dependent on opiates when you kicked codeine in the past, but being on such a low dose now for so long has slowly but surely reduced that dependency.

As for the amphetamine blocking withdrawals, there's no way in hell. Yes it releases dopamine like opiates, but release of dopamine is just a side-effect of opioid receptor activation, which helps reinforce the psychological addiction but not the physical addiction. It is activation of the receptor that causes the dependency and lack of activation that causes the withdrawals (whether it's through lack of opiates, lack of endorphin production, receptor down-regulation or a combination of these most (all?) of the time) Amphetamine doesn't touch the receptors so it wouldn't be blocking the withdrawal. But when you comedown be prepared to feel pretty shit until you get 1 or 2 sleeps under your belt. Don't let that comedown get to you!

vortex, I love you (OK, I don't, just thought you deserved to hear something like that... let's just say I like you %)). As a matter of fact I've already slept since I took the first line of speed. It was only four hours, but I didn't do any speed today and I have 400mg seroquel (I'm not gonna take all 4) just in case.

I'm really quite ecstatic right now :D
