Am I a Cancer or a Leo? Confused...

What does "OMg!2!!1 I r on cancer and leo same time!!!!!! who? what?? What is this I don't even" contribute to the expectations of this forum?

this conversation, for example, is entirely relevant to our worldviews and philosophies

we should be careful to discern between "semi-trolls" (who engage in legitimate discussion that progresses awareness) and "real trolls"

particularly since we've gone over the same thing in a civil discussion in another thread?
are you implying that this discussion is not civil? sometimes i can't detect emotions like others, having aspergers

The only reason this thread is left open is because cyc actually informed me privately that he intends no malice.
where you saw trolling, i saw an attempt to discuss a particular philosoph(ies). and i honestly can't see the malice anywhere

anyway...

^ i agree that anything should be falsifiable, eventually at least. we can't falsify certain things right now (eg an orbiting teapot around jupiter), but our capacity increases (and indeed, accelerates)

but we can assign some REALLY low probabilities... and astrology would have an even lower probability than that teapot, at least, as far as how it is commonly portrayed and percieved

Beliefs can be falsifiable. I believe that I left my keys in that little bowl by the door. Any proposition which is held to be true is a belief.

While this is true of all beliefs (Laws and Theories can be beliefs too) I wasn't using the word to literally mean anything one believes in. I mean that a "belief" in this context, that is 'merely a belief', and by definition, cannot be subjected to the scientific method.

And to jam's credit, I have been warned off this topic before, as I do have a tendency to be sensational in an effort to bait people, and this thread is no exception. For example, I could have simply named the thread, "Sun's position at birth, fixed or relative?" but my thinking at the time, is that most people who have something to say about astrology, would most likely ignore/avoid the issue.

Joke's on me though, because with the exception of pyrid, they're avoiding it anyways ;)

I genuinely do want to learn though. The problem I'm finding with astrology, is that it's tough to discern where the astronomy/trig/geometry ends, and the mysticism begins. There's an incredible amount of information on this topic, which I didn't realize diving into it.

But qwe is correct. In the end, this is a mission with an objective. I am looking for the truth. I want to be able to say, with credibility "astrology has merit and here is why" or "astrology is bullshit and here's why"

Thanks for the link, Cyc.

However, using the equal house system (the one I use), that would peg the beginning of the Age of Aquarius at about 1965 AD (2100 years after 135 BC), which means we are and have been living it since the flower children of the 60s said.

Anyway, thanks again for the link.

If that's not an impressive calculation, then I don't know what is.

that's like a syncronicity...far out dude... *drinks delsyd*

mysticism isn't all bullshit

we don't know what produces consciousness, and however our brains do it, it's quite complex. there seems to me to be some sort of connection (to something unknown) we have that allows us "to be" (more than a robot; as far as we know our brains operate no differently than computers as far as things like consciousness and free will are concerned)

while what i quoted should be seen through like i said, popular astrology and mysticism are quite different things

he's trying to figure out the truth, not be happy
your zodiac sign?... the truth?
seriously...

i'll tell you the "truth" :
according to my chart, which is much more interesting than this mainstream one, your zodiac sign is helicopter
and according to my neighbour's (he's from a small ethnic group), you're a cross-breed between an ant and an ant-eater

hope that was useful

if it was, i would much appreciate if you could make me happy
that somehow interests me more than a random animal name according to which you put people born within a month span in the same bag :)

Cyc, we have the same birthday! Haha! :) I've often noticed that I have mostly Leo traits, but when I'm emotional I tend to have traits of a Cancer. I was born on 8/8/88 though—Leo sun sign, Cancer moon sign, as well as a Venus in Cancer. Hence why I feel I possess some traits of a Cancer, also.
