i don't really do psychadelics, and i'm wondering about prolonged usage. just bored. IT'S 6:30 AM.

that's not really fair, some of us are obsessive compulsive about a lot of things because of.. well. diagnosed OCD. ehrm...

Oh man. I don't know how many times a day me and my friends say shit like "Dude that would be so awesome on mushrooms!" "Dude if we were on acid right now..." "Man if we did pure tonight..." "Oh dude I wish I had some k tonight!"
I like to generalize it into just plain and simple Drug Addiction. Not 1 drug that your solidly addicted too, just addicted to getting high, on anything.

Yep, I would go as far as saying anyone who regularly posts on a message board about drugs probably has some time of psychological addiction to getting altered in some way haha.
 
It's almost like one step back from drug addiction, it's really more like an obsession. and like anymajordude said it helps having other hobbies, and i've also found that when i don't get high/trip for like 2 weeks it gets better (the urge). Just my .02
 
I'm just going by the "official definition" of addiction as stated by rehabilitation clinic and whatnot. Preoccupation with drug related thoughts and ideas is a symptom of psychological addiction to them. "Obsession of the mind".
