Alternatives to 12 Step Programs

This is the one I like to use, it's a very successful tool and program for the truly strong minded and ones who want to get clean but group meetings aren't for them (antisocial people, people who are introverts, etc)

www.rational.org

I believe every addict should read the 200+ pages on that website for a truly new and refreshing sobriety program where instead of saying we are powerless (because all-in-all it comes down to what we believe is what will be true) and that we CAN'T beat this addiction on our own (isn't there an old saying to never say can't??) you learn the AVRT technique with is Addictive Voice Recognition Treatment where they explain for you to see the urge/thoughts/feelings/schemes/etc to use as a separate entity trying to get you to use, a 3rd party mingling in your brain, it's not a disease, just an uninvited guest. for me, it has become so easy to fight the temptations...

I don't really care if you call it a "Disease" (12 steps), "The Beast" (Rational Recovery), take no position (SMART) etc etc, I am all for what works.

The article is interesting, thanks for sharing.
