Alternative to Benzos for Sleep

from wiki
Usually physicians will start the patient on a low dose of pregabalin and increase it gradually, depending on the patient's evaluation. Its therapeutic effect appears after 1 week of use and is similar in effectiveness to lorazepam, alprazolam and venlafaxine but pregabalin has demonstrated superiority by producing more consistent therapeutic effects for psychic and somatic anxiety symptoms. Long-term trials have shown continued effectiveness without the development of tolerance and additionally unlike benzodiazepines it does not disrupt sleep architecture and produces less severe cognitive and psychomotor impairment; it also has a low potential for abuse and dependence and may be preferred over the benzodiazepines for these reasons.
Pregabalin is available in 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 225, and 300 mg capsules, and recently a strawberry flavoured oral solution has been developed, containing 20 mg/mL with an added sweetening agent (sucrose) to mask the chemical's bitter taste.[7][8] The maximum daily recommended dose for Pregabalin is 600mg daily. Dosages must be monitored and increases should be based on patient's tolerance

It doesn't feel like Effexor, not at all. Its impossible to make equivalent doses to benzodiazepines. Just because they both effects the GABA receptors doesn't make them the same. Just like you couldn't compare doses of benzodiazepines to barbiturates. All I can say is that when you first start 300-450mg will usually do the job. When you start you are started on really low doses like 100-150mg the first month. Then usually upped to 225mg. They need to find the right dose for you so they start low. You won't be able to get high on doses like that. 300mg is when it becomes recreational.

lyrica is some good shit...been on it for a week...good by itself, better with weed, even better with alcohol, and just amazing with opiates and benzos..gabapentin on the other hand blows, the only high i got off of it was with 600mgs + 2mg klonopin + weed + alcohol ...it was complete empathy but lyrica is better handsdown

yahh i have to agree i'm on 150mgs a day isn't that intoxicating, by itself its a pretty good anxiolytic and great for my SAD..makes me ramble on and just run my mouth lmfao!! just the interactions it allows me to have with people brought on euphoria..

Does Pregabalin have any recreational value?

last weekend i mixed 100mg lyrica, 75mg diphenhydramine, 30mg roxi blue, 32.5mg hydrocodone, and 2mg klonopin and it was aaahmaazingg!! haha this weekend i picked up 2x30mg blues and i have a 2mg klonopin tablet along with my daily dose of 150mgs..tomorow will be a good day!!only thing that fucking sucks is that my insurance wont cover my lyrica and its so damn expensive :( i have already filed an appeal which they denied, so im resending another one and im not going to stop until they cover me!!

ok, zanaflex SUCKS. That's my official reaction. tried it 3 times, it is completely ineffective.

lyrica.. has some intoxiating effect at 300mg and then in increasing dosages by 150mg up to...750mg after which i haven't tried.

i personally don't enjoy the lyrica high. too much like being drunk. was absolute shite for neuropathic pain control.
