Can paper towels or coffee filters be a effective substitute for blotter paper for soaking up doses of compounds? These are personal individual doses, but will these mediums release the compound at a favorable rate when used buccal ? Idea was to drop calculated (via syringe of the HCL liquid suspension) doses on to a single strip. Let it dry and the take buccal ROA.

Why not just use liquid dosing, and hold it in your mouth for sublingual/buccal absorption? You can get little 2-4mL vials that work great for on the go dosing (loved these things back in my GBL days).
Nasal with misters works VERY well.
HPBCD (depatabable necessary) complexed 25i @ 500mcg via this roa is very intense in terms of come-up, and i'd even say its stronger than buccal. One of my favorite nbome roa's. Theres a bit of mild irritiation, but its hardly noticable, and 25i hcl w/hpbcd is soluble enough in water, that a few squirts up each nostril is ~ 500mcg. IIRC, the solution i had was ~90ug per spray. But, its not super accurate, as the sprays are not allways the same volume, if you get the technique down right, can measure out nbomes and mix them up this way, and determine the ml concentration on average of one spray its an excellent roa.
I sprayed 10 mists into a plastic spray bottle cap (~12mm diameter) and used a mg scale to determine the amount of water, 1g water/1ml. I don't think the negligible amounts of nbomes are necessary to take into account in terms of volume increases, but if you make a strong solution (not recommended) its a factor to consider. My sweet spot was 3 sprays up each nostril for ~500mcg 25i total.

If you are looking for an alternative to blotters so that you can take them out and about with you, watercolour paper may be your best substitute. It comes in varying grades and thicknesses; it should be easy to find the right thickness by just eyeballing it in the shop (eyeballing the paper, not the compound!) Because it is made for watercolour painting, it is designed to absorb the water so that the paints don't run into each other before it dries.
Buy a sheet for a few pennies or whatever, and then take it home and score it out with a sharp knife to your desired square area. Aliquot your doses, let them dry, and tear off as many as you need. Done!

I have nasal dripped, but would prefer a slower onset, smoother plateau and a longer duration which is why blotting is the interest. If you like a fast onset and efficiency, you got nasal mist as ROA no doubt.
for sure, i actually prefer to space the nasal mist admins ~10min apart, ie 2x, 2x, 2x. Slows down the come up, and makes it more akin to buccal/sub-lingual, but at a better efficacy.
