Alprazolam/xanax= only 2 hours???

I am perscribed aprazolam for anxiety attacks, but I love taking them after taking adderall and the comedown starts to hit (i have add and am perscribed as well)

I love xanax because it kicks in extremely fast for me (20min tops) and is extremely good for the dreadful crash from adderall.

The only problem is, I only get about 2 hours tops with alprazolam without having to redose, but on the perscription is says "take 1 once every 8 hours"

Which got me thinking....am I the only one who gets such a short duration for xanax?? I like taking 1.0 when the comedown hits, but the problem is it goes away so fast I have to keep redosing and its annoying...

I was on klonopin but didnt like it NEARLY as much xanax, as the xanax kicked in much faster and helped me go to sleep.

I recall one night I took 5mg klonopin and STILL couldnt get to sleep.

It doesnt matter how much fuckin adderall ive taken throughout the day, I ALWAYS can fall asleep.

Also any suggestions for different benzos that might work better and longer duration would be great.

Im going to be back in school so ill be taking adderall alot, and want to know if either activan or Valium is a better choice, as I dont want to keep redosing so much from alprazolam and expierience W/Ds.

Klonopin just didnt do it for me. I felt decent, but never as calm as alprazolam and sleeping was still a bitch -__-

i get this with temazepam, i generally only get prescribed hypnotic benzos so tend to go with nitrazepam as i love the high and it lasts longer. but yer if you are prescribed for anxiety try and get valiums (diazepam), i don't like ativan, i find it doesnt get me high at all for some reason. im awaiting wednesday so i can try and blag more nitrazepam as iv run out early but its pretty hard for me to get them now after iv been treated for drug addiction. god the bless the internet in times of doctors not giving me what i want thats all i can say!

I just think you got your xanax too early... I used it after meth and it help me a lot... I suppose, if you want to take only one dose of xanax, that you have to wait longer... wait that adderall go more down... I know it is a big pain in the ass but if you want to play the game sometimes have to cope... try to smoke some ganja, take your xanax, eat and go sleep... have fun dude!

xanax comes in a xr form, which may help, although the rapid onset isnt as noticeable because its not hitting you all at once. i used to take 3mg xanax xr 2x a day and it was great. regular xanax's biggest downfall is its short duration of action. i think temazepam if you just want sleep or halcion (most docs wont prescribe this one anymore). have you tried the z drugs (ambien, sonata, lunesta)? they work alot like benzos but are more specific for sedation than anxiety or panic.

Yeah, Xanax only lasts 3 hours for me but kicks in within 10-15 minutes. If Klonopin doesn't work than you may want to try Ativan, as it lasts about 8 hours, a little less than Klonopin. As someone else recommended you could try the Xanax XR which lasts about 6 hours.
