Well, since I've been using meth fairly frequently, I'm starting to think that it would benefit me attempt some measures to mitigate the effects of my use.
So, here are my questions:
1) Is there a benefit to taking alpha lipoic acid?
2) If so, how much should I take, and what are the positives and negatives of its use?
3) Is there anything else I should also try to obtain to combat the sideaffects of meth?

alpha-lipoic-acid can be used as an insulin spike,i have read that it can be used with diabetes as insulin,
Bodybuilders use it as a spike for protein and creatine (forces protein and creatine into you muscles)..therefor better gaines +recovery
i dont see how it could help combat side affects of meth though, but im not an expert on that though..sorry

It's also a very strong anti-oxident. So, if meth damages through oxidation (I have no idea if it does) then ALA could help some.

Yeah, I kind of gathered that from looking around on the internet, but I've heard that ALA is quite beneficial when using meth, so I was just wondering...
However, even if it's not, is there anything else I should be using as a supplement when doing meth?

ALA has not been studied in connection with methamphetamine-induced neurotoxicity, but it has been shown effective in reducing/preventing MDMA-induced neurotoxicity.
Furthermore, antioxidants (though not specifically ALA like I said) have been shown to significantly reduce methamphetamine-induced damage. Specifically, melatonin and selenium have been proven to be effective antioxidants in this regard.
ALA is a very strong antioxidant, however, and I think that taking into account what I've stated above, it is not unreasonable to assume that ALA might help reduce methamphetamine-induced damage. I certainly seem to feel better when I use ALA when tweaking.
High doses of ALA are probably necessary in order to have any significant effect -- I take up to 1000 mg -- sometimes more if I am tweaking hard. Combine instant release with sustained release, as ALA has a short half-life. If you can't find sustained release, then take a dose of a a few hundred mgs ALA every few hours.
I'm not aware of any side effects of ALA. I certainly haevn't experienced any, other than slight discomfort and nausea when taking large (700 mg and upwards) doses on an empty stomach (which makes sense -- you are acidifying your already very acidic stomach). I prevent this by eating some crackers or bread when I take higher doses of ALA.

Ugh. I've had ALA since 1999 and have used it to more quickly drop blood glucose levels for some cyclo-ketogenic diets I've went on for vascularity.
And I NEVER thought about using it for this (just rolled a lot from summer '01 to this february)
oh well...
