hey guys im writing while i can still sit up. I have been taking six 10/325 percs 3 times a day (total of 18 daily) i had no choice but to ween down to one to one and a half of the 10/325's. I have suboxone but I hate it I was on it for 6 months. I have gone through withdrawl from oxycodone 4 times before SEVERELY. However now im taking it for pain i have 3 herniated discs in my neck, 4 in my lumbar, spinal stenosis, siatica, pinch nerves, and cervicogenic headaches paired with migraines (most from 2 accidents curtious of my good friends...smh.. I want to stop but im afraid im not strong enough to go cold turkey this time, i feel like im 90 vs when i did it in my late teens and im only 21! Please tell me how bad this can be, currently all I have at my aid is 1 1/2 percocets, 1mg klonopin, soma, and ambien. I remember it taking 5 days last time to clear me. Should I use the suboxone or not? I appriciate all your guys help I'm just trying to write this before im the new poster dude for the handicapped sign.:(

Soak you're feet in hot water, it works miracles, believe me.

Just hang in there, dude. Just keep reminding yourself, it will get better, it will get better.

Its been so long almost 2 years since cold turkey and I didn't have these injuries then, I understood that since percocet was fast acting it leaves your system quicker than other opiates....would 5 days be about right? for the withdrawl time that is.

I would use the Suboxone, due to the fact that it seems you have a fairly hefty opiate addiction, and you have many underlying pain conditions. I would also use the Soma to help with the pain, anxiety, and insomnia. The Ambien is good, too, for the insomnia. You only have 1 mg Klonipin, so I'd make the most of it when you are in the worst part of wd's. Also, I would go out and get some diphenhydramine for the nausea. It may also help with the insomnia, as well. If you choose not to take the Suboxone, I would suggest loperamide (Immodium) as this can help greatly during opiate wd's. Ibuprofen or naproxen can take some of the edge of off the aches and pains too, but beware of gastric irritation. For non-drug measures, hot baths/showers help a good deal, and should be taken frequently. Distraction is your friend, so if you can distract yourself, do so. You are strong enough, believe that, because you are, anyone is. If you tell yourself you are not it can become a negative self-fufilling prophecy which means you if you tell yourself you aren't strong enough you won't be. So be confident, and take the wd's in stride. Oxycodone is a fairly short-acting opiate, yes, so the worst should be over after maybe 4 or 5 days. I would strongly suggest the Suboxone, though, it will help bunches.

From my experience being on IR roxi/percs./150-210mgs a day and then completely stopping, the first 48-60 hours always sucked so bad but things did get better by the third day but it's going to be a rough 7 days ahead for you. To sleep i would lay on my side which helped IMMENSELY with the hellish leg discomfort withdraws(i'm sure you know what that means). Not sure if you're able to do that with your injuries though, hopefully you can. I've never taken suboxone so i don't know about that...from what i've read about it, it seems to help ppl get off opiates(but it's an opiate too(go figure)) really well but it too can become even more addictive than percs. I am a little confused about your situation though. Is it that you're out of meds and can't get them anymore or are you just trying to quit? If you're trying to ween down and quit you should get another script and do it that way. I did it by just forceing myself to feel like crap everyday till i couldn't take it anymore then doseing. Took me 4 weeks to ween off, few days after of feeling under the weather, and then a couple of months for the cravings to go away. But just remember this, 180mgs daily isn't all that bad. Yes it's gonna suck ass these next few days but atleast you ain't on 500-1000mgs a day, that's a whole other world of hurt you aint gonna be going through. So I really think you can do it w/o the suboxone, dont get yourself hooked on that shit too, but if you need pain relief still b/c of your injuries then i guess you should, i don't know, i'm not a doctor, just wanted to try and help you out. If you have more questions reply and i'll reply back. And Alex above is right, you gotta believe you can do it and i know you can b/c i've been through what you're going through now many times and i always made it too. GL to you man.

Hey there, welcome to BDD! I am sorry to hear about your situation <3

Loperamide (Immodium) can help with a lot of the physical symptoms - it is an opioid but does not cross the blood brain barrier (in significant quantities anyway) but it can really help with the other symptoms..

Are you prescribed the Percocet? It sounds like you have a legitimate reason to need pain relief - are you under a pain specialist?

In terms of the Suboxone.. it can help, of course, but as you know you then are dependent on that instead and will need to come off that at some point. It depends how bad things are really - and remember not to take it until you are definitely in withdrawals as precipitated WDs are no joke..

What is your plan for analgesia once you have come off the Percocets? Have you had any thoughts about how to stay clean once you have detoxed?

I am actually going to move this to the Other Drugs forum as they have more experience in tapering, detox, maintenance etc - hope that is okay. I would also take a look at the Other Drugs directory at the top of the forum for info on tapering, withdrawals and pain management. Finally, if you would like some emotional support and advice, check out The Dark Side forum (link in my sig) - it covers addiction amongst other things and is full of smart and caring people!

Good luck <3

Ok guys, like I stated above in the title "Almost cold turkey" I came through on that. I have a bottle of Hycodan and I am not dying on 1-1 1/2 teaspoons every morning, im going to try to cut down this way and then hopefully feel a lighter w/d. I have 90 1mg Klonopin and 120 2mg xanax so I hope it will be ok. I tired the suboxone but it just made me want to use more when i tried to detox last month. But now I feel ready. My mother is also a chronic pain patient but she literally takes less than 1/4 of a 7.5/325 and she has been on it for 25 years...as far as Immodium, I have my vitamins and everything set up, is there anything else I can do? i plan on cutting myself off the hydrocodone syrup soon. I don't know how but I dont feel any discomfort when dropping high doses to low ones (Percs 18x a day to one 5mg teaspoon of hydrocodone as long as something is in my system its weird and its always ben that way..the product of two parents born in the 50's -__-. So if anyone has any advice beyond this please let me know. I appriciate all your responses a lot!
