i don't know if this is exactly the right forum or site to ask about allergy meds, but worth a shot.

so i have seasonal allergies and lately i'll wake up with a really itchy throat or i'll sneeze a lot. i take reactine atm, and it works instantly but the downside is that it pretty much drains me of my energy. i just feel exhausted for the entire day. and this goes the same with any other brand. might i note that this happens regardless of whether or not if the pills are "non-drowsy".

does anyone get this way? why does it make me so drowsy, and is there an alternative or any way that i can counteract the drowsiness?

I get super drowsy with allergy meds. What I have to do is take them at night, and after a week or two they don't cause drowsiness anymore. This is more of a preventative measure, I don't know what to tell you about something you can take in the middle of the day or when you're feeling especially bad. I just take something every day to get the relief without drowsniess since that side effect wears off pretty quickly.

This is a common side-effect of all anti-histamines. Some people use them for the specific purpose of inducing sleep.
