Is it possible to be allergic to hydrocodone but not oxycodone? I have done a search with no luck. I am going in for surgery in a couple of months and was wondering if I told the Dr that hydrocodone made me breakout in hives or vomit if he would prescribe something stronger for afterwards.

Ya, it is possible-I did the same thing. What you should do is get the Hydro first, wait a couple of days, call back and say it isn't touching your pain, and cross your fingers. He might pescribe you something stronger like Oxycodone-what you were looking for.
The problem w/ saying you are allergic to Hydro, is that Oxy and Hydro are so closely related that he will not pescribe you Oxy because it is safe to assume you would most likely be allergic to BOTH.
With this, take the Hydro (eat them), call back and say you pain is "keeping you up at night" and so on-ya know your typical bullshit. Then he might give you a stronger mg dosage or BINGO-give you Percocets.....

Pain usually diminishes with time, so once you get yer hydros, call back that same day to complain..
If you say you're alergic to hydrocodone, you will not get oxycodone - I am not positive as to if it's possible to be alergic to one and not the other, but because of how closely they are related, if you say you're alergic to one you definitly wont get the other..
