Someone would make a killing if they made a research chemical alcohol replacement.

Like GBL?

Which happens to be excellent for alcohol induced hangovers, actually any hangover / comedown - though has a bitter sweet irony all of its own.

I've started having a few vapes of weed a night, and i've been reading about on it's effects on bodybuilding. Some studies say it can decrease testosterone, and it seems like my gains are worse when I smoke, but others say it's fine. What does everyone else find?

Plus:

As with most studies involving cannabis I've read mixed reports about its effect on testosterone levels, but I've never noticed any trouble gaining now when I smoke weed pretty much every day, compared to when I didn't smoke. In fact I'd argue the fact it increases appetite and you sleep better would help you with gaining indirectly.

I got myself a little bench for my dumbbells yesterday. My arms, shoulders and abs are starting to come on nicely but my chest is slacking behind. Don't wanna end up looking like Popeye so hopefully the old chest presses/flys will even things out. I'm taking a shitload of essential amino acids as well and creatine which seems to be helping with recovery times an muscle growth. Not sure whether to bother with protein shakes though?

Protein shakes are pretty much a must. I don't think it is humanly possible to get enough protein into your diet without them. There are a few out there that will contain all the BCAA's you want, and some even contain creatine, although I would rather dose that seperately because it's generally a bit cheaper than the powders I like! That bench looks like a nice bit of kit, how much was it?

Yeah that bench does look pretty good, I had one a while ago was really cheap though and ended up breaking after about 3 weeks. Thing is though what size dumbells you got? Thats the expensive part, the dumbells that go up to like 40kg are really expensive, can get a cheap kit of ones but they only go upto like 15kg per dumbell which is pretty shite.

Ive just bought some PHD Synergy for a change, I think its the nicest one Ive had yet and its had good reviews so going to give it a go!

@Urbain^ Nice, you little nut whore. i tried the nuts for a while, it comes a point though where eating dry wood constantly is just too much, cant handle them!

My bench is the only piece of equipment i'm unhappy with at the moment, aside from the fact I don't have anything that works my lats properly.

Have you had a look on gumtree? I use spinlock dumbbells, which can just about hold 25-30kg per arm, which won't be enough after a few more months but i'll cross that bridge when I come to it. You'll probably be able to get 100-200kg of weights, plus a nice set of bars, for about £200ish. Or just the dumbbells for £50-100. I think the rule of thumb is £1-2 per kg of iron weights. The ones covered in plastic casing and filled with sand are rubbish. Once i've got the money i'm gonna invest in some bowflex dumbbells:

They range from 5kg all the way upto 40kg, and all you do is flick the dial :D

That synergy powder looks nice, i'm on their diet one at the moment. I'm also on a 6 hour extended release casein one. When i'm not trying to cut down i'm gonna switch over to this powder:

I also like the look of Optimum Nutrition's normal whey powder. The reviews look good, and apparently the cappucino flavour is good. So i'll get that and blend in a pro plus and stop drinking coffee.

Sorry man, didn't see this. The ones I have are 25Kg per dumbbell from Bodymax. I also have one of those shitty Chuck Norris Total Gyms that I use in garden if the weather permits. That's more for endurance than actual gains though.

@MSB: I only drink aftershave as a last resort, Listerine mouthwash is my prefered DOC. :D

Are those melatonin pills any good?

I'm getting back to the gym tomorrow. Home work outs were good cos I couldn't be fucked getting soaked in the rain but despite doing everything, flat bench, incline, flys, chin ups, bent over rows, skullcrushers, press ups, dumbells, sit ups etc it's just nowhere near as good as a gym work out with a programme where you can do different muscle groups each day.

actually i havent got that many anymore, but these few,

Dan dont take this the wrong way but your diet is completely sufficient , you certainly dont need ALL of that stuff! are you trying to bulk up?

hardly take them anymore mate ever since hammering healthy food, no need. infact some of them make me feel rough. dunno what combos are bad but if i take too many i feel rubbish. only ones i take atm are vitamin D, cayenne, milk thistle sometimes, and 5-HTP rarely. sometimes piracetam once a week. fish oil now and again if i dont eat any oily fish,

remember awhile back i was hammered and popped a load of each for some reason... thought itd be a wise choice after a sesh... felt terrible. used to wake up groggy after taking milk thistle, dunno why, its supposed to be good

the met-rx stuff and all those performance enhancing workout supplements have been crap for me, give me heart palps etc, full of random chemicals and crap

yeah man, thats the way to do it, good to hear yer not pumping yerself fulla that stuff, i find 5-htp makes me feel sick!
