Would there be a way to come up with an alcohol formula for diabetics? like alcohol without carbs or sugar. something we could patent for diabetic use that reduces the sugar and carb overload that comes with alcohol? Lets make history ya'll!

I think this is better suited for an advaced disscussion.

But, isn't the blood sugar overload is caused by the alcohol itself?
If so, I think that you are a salmon swimming upstream, doing all this work only for reproduction of ideas and and failure in life.

Fermentation uses the sugars up, so im guessing the answer is no.

By fermentation using glucose produced from sugar from the hydrolysis of starch, in the presence of yeast and temperature of less than 37°C to produce ethanol. For instance the conversion of invertase to glucose and fructose or the conversion of glucose to zymase and ethanol.

and FWIW, if you were to produce something without carbs or sugars, it'd probably taste like pisswater, a la "light beer".

Acording to wikipedia, ethanol Increases insulin sensitiviy, lowering the blood sugar levels and lowers the risk for diabetes. But, with heavy consumption, it increases the risk for diabetes type 2. So, from what I'm getting is that a little vodka (or simply ethanol and water) is of benifit in small pre-intoxication doses.

The main thing you would have to worry about is fotified wine, these have a very high sugar content.

So, I really depends on how you mix your drink, rather than drink it.

right, well I don't have Diabetes, I am just thinking about all those poor people out there that do and would like to formulate something that they could drink, without risk

I'd say yes.
But something that is sugar free, is not going to taste very well.

Anything with aspertame is going to taste fuckin' rediculous, especially with the after taste.

How about Stevia?
I love steeping stevia leaves in a plain vodka for taste, and just take shots.
It is 300 times sweeter than sugar. Powerful stuff. Vodka tasting sweet undiluted is the shit!!!!!!!

hmmm maybe a vodka drink infused with stevia? but is vodka safe for diabetics ?
