Well, for me, it's a matter of getting up at 3pm, checking BL, having a shower, getting dressed, checking BL, getting some food, checking BL while I eat it, doing the dishes, checking BL, opening a bottle of wine and having a sip while I check BL, maybe lining up some dissociatives to snort with BL on the screen, then checking BL, typing all the drug-fuelled shit into BL, then going to bed and waking up periodically during the night to check BL.

In all honesty, since my major upheaval in the months running upto Christmas I have been sewing seeds and rebuilding. Now that it's all coming to fruition and i'm getting better I am slowly coming out of what has basically been self supported unemployment. I really won't have the time very soon!

I got my degree in English, was a student teacher for 8th grade English for six months, then got hired on full time at the high school. I taught high school English to 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades during different years, in the suburbs and in Compton.

I also tutored kids in the hospital cross curricular so that they would not get behind. In the U.S. we have No Child Left Behind, so even if a child is in the hospital deathly sick, they have to be taught. I was one of those teachers. One young lady was in her senior year when she was diagnosed with cancer. She did her work the best she could, and she graduated, but she died the next day. I was devastated.

I stopped counting after I had applied to 300 school districts across the country. I got seven interviews out of that. But I did not get hired. The competition is tough. I'm not bilingual. That kills a resume at the gate. I should speak Spanish for fucks sake. I live in California. I can read Latin. I should have learned Spanish already. There are teachers here from Turkey that speak 5 languages AND can coach tennis or volleyball. I am SO vanilla compared to the competition. SO vanilla = SO unemployed.

I'm learning pharmacy technician trade now, and changing careers. At 53. If I get hired after the training, I will start out making less than half what I earned my last year as a teacher. The whole school closed and the whole staff was laid off. Misery loves company.

Obama didn't inherit a country in good shape. Bush bled us for all we were worth. The middle class is being eviscerated. Teachers got laid off by the thousands. The medical field is the only place where there is a chance. Just a chance. But teachers and the rest of the middle class had insurance. People with no insurance don't go to the doctor. My doctor told me they lost a large piece of business too. I had to go see him a few times in the last few weeks to get TB tests and shots for every fucking thing because you cannot work in a pharmacy unless you have shot records. Yea. Like I have ANYTHING from when I was in grade school. I couldn't even find my high school diploma and I had to show that to get in to the training program. I have a BA but I had to drive over and get my high school transcripts to get into this program.

All this and there's other stuff I'm leaving out, and no guarantee of a job. I have zero dollars. zero today and zero tomorrow. Nothing coming in whatsoever.

Sorry for whining. It's been 2 years and I'm sick of this shit. So if the U.S. government is spying on this thread, be glad you have a job you worthless piece of dog shit. Why don't you be a real American and go get killed in your own neighborhood? That way I can sit on my ass and get paid and you can have your name blasted across the news for days.

The U.S. is so bad off, it is killing itself.

I'm thinking of moving to Canada.

I'm sorry for my verbosity, Knock. once I start a thought I sometimes like to let it just unravel to see what else is combined in the original emotion. You can feel free to tell me to be more conservative with my words. It is sort of a problem I developed from grading papers. If I'm being disruptive, I'd love it if you would tell me in peace and honesty. I am always learning.

I'm surprised you are unable to find a job as a teacher, my brother is a primary school teacher and jobs are reasonably plentiful in that field in the UK and the pay is not to shabby either.

Hope you have better luck in the pharmacy world, why would you have to tell an employer what medication you are taking, is that a requirement in the US ?

Well.... that's depressing as hell. California laid off like 100,000 teachers. We are all competing for the same few slots. PLUS one new private school is importing European teachers that speak 5 languages and can coach sports. I am not bilingual, I don't know shit about sports, and the competition has kicked my muffkknn ass, son.

Depends where you are iin the UK...this bit of Devon seems to be a place where lots of peopleare "relocating"....

That's cus the ones with years of experience cost so much more than the ones who are newly qualified. They are better teachers, but schools prefer to get the cheaper teachers in.

No, our local primary has a very forward thinking headteacher, our son's year one teacher has been superb, she's got 20 years experience, and she told us that she had great trouble finding a job as most schools budgets led them to appointing NQT's whether that was best for the kids or not. He's had a better start than we could have wished for.

My point was that there are more teachers looking for work down here than there are teaching posts, so even well qualified teachers are getting in on classroom assistant posts as it's their only in. I was considering applying for a classroom assistant post at my son's school, the head seemed positive about it, but I couldn't afford the cut in wages....it's fucking bizarre, and wrong...
