All men play on 10 (METAL THREAD 3.0)

Really? I thought Burn My Eyes was half-decent, but I didn't really like Burning Red.

I fucking love that CD. I consider it a tongue in cheek refernece to nu metal at the time... and Robert Flynn STILL did it better than 99 percent of the nu metal bands out there.

i liked soulfly's 1st album. but....their style of drums(tribal) really doesn't do it for me anymore.

i wish max would've stayed with sepultura.

sepultura > soulfly

btw, nailbomb was cool. i'm trying to remember who was in it, besides max....

anyway, why did they only release 1 album?

Burn My Eyes is one of the best American metal albums ever made (I'll call it "groove metal," for lack of a better term...a term they often associate with Pantera). This album is in no way "nu-metal," and was released far before that trend entered into the landscape.

I think you are giving Flynn and MH too much credit here. I don't think they were making a tongue in cheek album at all. They really thought that style (rapping; nu-metal) was a viable evolution for their sound (at the time). Hell, I saw them on that tour, and Flynn was wearing a vinyl jumpsuit and jumping around with his dreads. No one was laughing at this "tongue and cheek" reference to nu-metal, they were just booing them.

If The Burning Red was tongue in cheek, how do you explain the awful Supercharger?

The band wasn't messing with their fans or the metal community, they simply had an identity crisis. Thankfully they woke up from the bad dream and made From the Ashes of Empires...I hope more of the same is to come, because I have always liked this band.

Fear Factory
- Digimortal
Like a much better version of Machinehead. "Nu-metal" done right - meaning it's catchy and tech-poppy, but is still good music, and full of passion.

No one did "nu-metal" right....Unless you want to lump Mudvayne, Deftones , Korn (Follow the Leader and before) Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down and Slipknot into this "genre," but I'd rather avoid the term completely rather than slight these aforementioned bands.

When I think nu-metal, I think awful shit like Static X, Primer 55, Taproot, Nonpoint, Lostprophets, Systematic, Stereomud, Drowning Pool etc...bands that had/have no staying power....

I cant believe this found its way into this thread

this album is horrible

horrible

the hip hop track makes me want to gag the rapper with a cock shaped steel gladius.

Transgression wasnt bad. Archetype had some finer moments. The special addition version of Obsolete has some awesome tracks. Outside of a few tunes here and there, Fear Factory's career began to reach terminal velocity shortly after Demanufacture.

I can not find one single positive aspect of Digimortal. I recall trying my damndest to like that album when it came out, to no avail. The only reason it isnt a beer coaster for my livingroom is because I have a lot of respect for their earlier work.

I have no idea how you can love an artist as awesome as Death (Individual Thought Patterns is one of my fav albums too) and put them on any list with newer FF. To each their own!

lol @ drowning pool, one of my roomates actually loves them (and all those 15 mins of fame crap mass produced bands of their kin). its sad, i get the displeasure of hearing them at least once a week.

You guys are being a little retarded with your anti-numetalness. Just chill out. Who really gives a crap.

The only reason Digimortal wasn't a beer coaster in my living room was because the little hole in the cd's still lets liquid leak.

CD's never make good coasters.

MACHINE HEAD FTW

Hehehe fooled you! I don't think you're sad!

I like Digimortal cuz I sometimes enjoy poppiness. Very, very rarely :|

It's good to see metalheads are learning to pit instead of jockmosh.

I missed that tour too because it was on a random Wednesday or something...goddamn it. Hypocrisy played too; damn good lineup

Went to see Napalm Death with A Life Once Lost last night. I arrive 25 minutes before ALOL was supposed to play, I see huge Napalm Death bus, and a sign on the door of the venue. Apparently the show was canceled (although about two hours before I talked to the promoter and he gave me band times, as though the show was happening). We talk to some random Napalm Death crew/roadie guy, and he claims the show is cancelled because "there is no PA." Ok, fair enough, we suppose. Strange though, as this is no hole in the wall venue, they have quite an elaborate PA and enough technicians to fix any problems that could occur.

So we call the promoter to get the scoop. Apparently Napalm showed up, saw the lack of people there to see the show and said they would not play. The amount of people there couldn't pay Napalm's guarantee unless the venue charged like 30 bucks a ticket to get in, and that wouldn't happen.

So the whole goddamn show was canceled. I know Napalm is a big friggin act, and this a business, but shit...show some heart. You are already at the venue, play and make half the amount of money you were guaranteed. Where's the hardcore spirit? :(

It's pretty much non-existent, man. Read my post in the "What are you listening to thread?" Even smaller "big" acts like Gojira won't even look at you unless you're gonna give 'em money.

Man, that's gay as hell! If I were one of those fans who turned out for the show and the band just wanted to piss and sulk that they werent gettin the response they want from the local fanbase, i mean come on. I actually thought about catching that tour as well cuz all shall perish was in the line up, but I didnt feel like driving clear across the state for em.

ouch SonOF that totally blows man, id probably lose respect for the band if that happened to me.
