"All it did was make my balls itch!" (Methadone)

I am wondering how it is possible that taking 40mg of methadone in liquid form will have the sole effect of causing itchiness in someone with no tolerance. I have been told that it just doesn't work with some people. Can some people just metabolize it at freakishly rapid rates? (Not morbidly obese, nor tolerant to benzos etc.). What a disappointing waste of money. What are your thoughts on this? How is it possible? The seller was worried enough about the dose that he texted frantically for a response to verify it wasn't an OD after it had been bought.

Seems plenty possible to me. You just have an idiosyncratic response ti the chemical, I suppose.

Funny thing is that the itch is a typical side effect but there was no apparent sedation. I was of the understanding 40mg is a hefty dose for a beginner so it is bizarre.

Yeah because methadone tends to make me a bit sleepy. Since you're not opiate tolerant that does seem odd not feeling anything.

Yes, you can metabolize freakishly fast. I do..or should say did. I'm no longer on methadone. But I had a tolerance, and never got high...When my blood was tested first thing in the morning (which I was ALWAYS sick by4p.m. everyday) by the time I got to the clinic at 5:30a.m. I was wild..covered in sweat...

Anyway, my blood results were in the 100 or 200 level when it should've been in the thousands...they didn't believe I was swallowing it. Man, was that some bullshit...having to have someone sit w me,and watch me swallow, then wait for twenty minutes. It was ridiculous. But yes, it is absolutely true.

That is my biggest concern about using methadone from the clinic for ORT. I metabolize freakishly fast, too. Like with Suboxone, when I dose in the morning (typically between 5-7a)I feel pretty good for about 3 hours, then I feel alright for 5 more. But after that I start getting very mild w/d. I get tired, apathetic, depressed, a bit achey, maybe even start having a few yawns. Its clear I need to dose again, so I do around 3-5 pm and I feel fine until bedtime. But when I wake up I feel pretty awful. Not too bad, but clearly w/d is hitting me. Yesterday was a good example of how bad it can be, because I actually took my 2nd dose @ around noontime. I used a sleep aid so I slept well, but I could tell even before bed I was staring to need another dose to stay well. So I woke and I was hurting. Usually I pop the dose in and take a shower, or make coffee/breakfast or something. Not this morning, all I could do was struggle out of bed and take the dose and lay back down. Drifted off for about 45 more minutes and woke up feeling good.

So with a methadone clinic I feel I would have 2 options. 1. I get a reasonable dose to hold me and it wears off quick, so I am sitting in line at the clinic every morning trying not to crap my pants. or 2. I could get an excessively heavy dose to hold me for a full 24, but I will be a 'done zombie for 6 hours every morning. It is kind of B.S. how the whole setup of the clinic is not a great situation for someone who metabolizes their opioids fast. Idk if there is a chance they might give small take home doses for people in this situation. Like if you are on 60 a day, they would give you 40 in the morning and 20 to take home and use later in the day. Otherwise I'd just try to get my hands on some of the 10 mg pills.
