we scare souls,
chant to cancel curses
and will not be
possessed. rise
ready and dressed
to cause wonder.
wear what's awful,
hide beautiful beneath
rags, scars, repulsive,
undesirable
to the dead, undecided
who to take
chilled at their
touch: consider
more blood,
more sores, make
what is in the mirror
frighten you,
unsure whose
impure reflection
deflects back

then carve
a costume for a
pumpkin:
knives draw black
holes to hang
at unearthly angles,
to let waxen gutter
speak seductive
within the orange orb
hollowed out
into a welcome
left to rot,
a tooth cavitied
to collapse.

we turn home,
the moon hung
balanced dead
over the wires
just days past
fullness and eclipse
now somehow
consumed slowly
like candy.

I'm not too sure about this one. I don't typically write occasional poetry but i felt like it tonight so I did :P probably needs an edit...
