Opioids alkaloid distribution in seeds

I've heard that yes, you can take like a pound of poppy seeds, shake em up for 2-3 in warm water, then filter them out and have a opium type of tea mixture.

Apparently tastes terrible, but gets you high.

also heard you can re-use the seeds like 2 or 3 times after you filter them out, so don't throw em away right away, but do another batch.

Poppy seeds are indeed coated with varying amounts of active alkaloids. You can make a 'tea' by placing them (you need quite a bit, at least 300g) in a 2 liter bottle, adding enough water (lukewarm, not hot or cold) to cover the seeds and then shaking the bottle for about 2-3 minutes non-stop. Unscrew the cap slightly and drain the liquid into a cup. Simple as that. Don't let the seeds sit, they will absorb the water, and therefore alkaloids, if left to sit. The seeds can be washed again, but do it ASAP after the first wash because the seeds will begin to spoil in the bottle shortly after they've gotten wet. A 3rd wash is doable, but not really worth the trouble IMO.

Poppy pod/seed tea Megathread.

Cheers for answering that - I always read/heard that the seeds should be discarded and only pod flesh used. Any "assault" on the outside wall would cause opium to leak onto the seeds causing them to cling to the ribs and wall (also sign of mold) thus trace alks. will most always be present

Well the amount of opioid content on the seed is small thus it requires alot of seeds to have any impact. Most of the opium latex is within the walls of the pod while the seeds are in the middle. There is some M&C in there but not particularly substantial.

Agreed man so why dont we grind the seeds along with the ribs crown etc? The seeds are nutrient enriched too. Plus the oils bind the pod flour making it the consistency of moistened sand - muuuuch easier to choke down. Good times all round imo

The oils taste fucking disgusting is why, and the latex coats the seeds...there are no alkaloids in the seeds themselves, just coating them. Grinding them up would be pointless. Simply wash the seeds for about a minute in a bottle, drain and drink. Do not grind them, let them sit, use boiling/hot water or anything along those lines.

This is not exactly why pod users discard the seeds.

The reason commercially produced seeds contain alkaloids is due to the process they use to acquire them - they smash the pods and then separate the seeds from the pods. In doing this, the opium latex housed in the pod walls gets on the seeds. If you get dried pods, there will be a truly negligible amount of opiate alkaloids on the seeds, if any.

I used pods daily for 14 months and so I'm very familiar with how seeds from dried pods sans alkaloids appear versus those commercially produced and unwashed that do contain opiates externally.

As has been said, the seeds themselves do not contain any alkaloids.

Right you are... but negligable is the key word here. Once you get the hang of growing those very delicate sprouts, the rewards are worth any type of ingestion (of the seeds)

Pods often contain seeds coating the ribs which I think is due to either latex or mould. I guess damage done to pods by bugs/birds would cause this. Ofc there would be fewer alks secreted than in the sit you described but repeated damage could cause a signif. amount to leach onto the seeds over time. There should be enough alks on the seeds to merit adding em to the grounds to compliment potency.
I'd prefer adding seeds to the grounds tbh since levels of m&c wouldnt be worth seed tea but would bump up levels in ground stores while not affecting weight in any major way. The "potentiation" is probs only a 5% increase tops but its something more than nothing

It is due to mold/degradation...

IMO the best use for poppy seeds, besides muffins or bagels, is to plant them in early spring or late fall.

Ya, but that's asking a junky to wait. ;)

I honestly don't know why this is, but from my experience, the seeds inside pods have always been lackluster at best. ..Nothing close to the dark earth dank seeds from a health food store.

A few weeks ago - it was interfering with my pimping which hopefully you're well aware is not easy.
