great name. It's probably active, but I wouldn't bet on any crazy potency..

Yeah possibly hard to synthesize as well ?

Certainly combines two parts from two of the key tryptamines. DIPT & Dalt.
Overly optimistic misguided pro-active enthusiasm: A short acting slightly pschadelic empathogen. 8)

You call dalt a key tryptamine? I've never heard of anyone else trying it.

I've been waiting to see this one pop up in discussion for quite some time, I'm more interested in 4-ho-alipt (or 4-aco) if at all possible myself though.

I'd call DALT a key trypt. DMT, DPT, DIPT, DALT, MIPT (less so, I suppose).
Does anyone know anything about diacetyltryptamine?

Why? i've barely seen it (dalt) mentioned. u have any info?

The few reports of DALT & 5-meo-DALT (including commentry from Shulgin) don't follow the typical tryptamine series and are in fact quite different, hence ALIPT might be a bit of a new one (an uncertainty) which makes it all the more interesting. (also potentially more unresearched but still interesting)

As the allyl is not so different to a propyl from what we know (DPT versus DALT,not much known though, but its 5-MeO cousins seems quite similar) I would say : PIPT!

^Hadn't seen PIPT - interesting thread.
Although yeah 5-Meo- might be more interesting then.
5-Meo-ALIPT.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, the shitty smell associated with some tryptamines is due to the presence of trace amounts of 3-methylindole, which is one of the compounds responsible for giving shit it's distinctive odour. Whoever named it skatole had a funny, but warped sense of humour!

my bet would be on MALT (N-Methyl,N-Allyl-Tryptamine) and its analogues.
btw, i heard that heavily diluted skatole solution smells like jasmine.

Yep, funny how changing the concentration of a molecule in the air can radically alter the subjective perception (I think jasmine has a certain fecal overtone anyway
)
jeez...
You guys are tough. the synthesis i gave was sufficiently vague and misleasing (as i left out a step, and didn't give the obviously BEST indole synthesis anyway), I thought that you would see that and be all over me. BTW, i've made hundreds of tryptamines, and as their ring substitution patterns and NN-substitution patterns get more elaborate, their odor is eliminated (or at least substantially altered). Never tasted a one of them, though, too 'fraid o' them (ca-caw, ca-caw, cockadoodle-doo)! But stuck my nose in every one of them, some smelled reminiscent of napthalene, some musky odors, but even skatole is maybe not exactly like 2-phenylethanol, but like indole, not entirely unpleasant in very, very low concentrations. High molecular weight ones tended to take on the odor of the side chains we were using.
