Alice In Chains all the way. I like Nirvana, but I think they are one of the most over rated groups of all time.
 
AiC, no contest. I do like Nirvana, but I generally find them to be criminally overrated.
 
Kurt Cobain cannot be overcome. I mean the guy basicly invented grundge rock sound. Hello, no.

Thing about AIC is that they whine so damn much. Nirvana had intelligence, satire, and poetry. AIC was heavier (which, in my opinion, is better), but it's a little too depressing.

I do love Alice In Chains tho too.

Layne was the shit :)

But kurt by far was more talented...hands down.

Seriously, I cannot thank TheChemist enough for turning me on to Alice in Chains. They really are better than Nirvana.
 
Why does it make sense to compare the two? They seem like different things to me.
 
yougene - if u knew anything about either of the two band and knew what era this music revolved around it would make a lot more since. they r two of the best grunge bands to have ever existed (can't forget about pearl jam though). i would have to say alice in chains is a much better band and much more talented then kurt "i blew my head off" cobain. i mean not to hate on nirvana but the guy fucking married courtney love fo christ sakes. most people can't even look at her with out cringing let alone trying to live with her. i think the most probable cause driving cobain to suicide would b that whore, deffinatly not all the drugs and depression lol.
 
alice in chains everytime! i really don't like nirvana or kurt cobain. must just be me though!

Alice in chains is like my favorite band ever. I do love nirvana too, but alice in chains is just a better band in my opinion. Also much more musically inclined (awesome harmonys between layne and jerry, better guitar, ect)
