ok, i feel like this should be a common issue but haven't found the exact thread for it. a lot of them focus on people who were on lots of benzos for a long time and then how drinking on them or after coming off them affects them. my question would seem to be more common even:

- a person goes to doctor, gets supply of benzos (valium 10 mg) b/c he wants to quit alcohol due to a 6 week binge getting up to 3.5 bottles of wine/night.
- quit drinking, took some benzos for 2 days. took 1 benzo in the morning for a few days running to steady/ avoid any withdrawal, but then drank a bit at night for a week. (family visiting)
- so there's been some valium use throughout most of the two weeks but not every day (minus 2 or 3).
- 6 days ago he quits drinking, commits to the benzo withdrawal plan. feels pretty good all week. takes last benzo 36 hours ago. doc does not think he will suffer any benzo withdrawals b/c of short time he was on it.
- question: would drinking now (day 6 off alc, day 2 off val) bring back the alcohol withdrawals? i don't really feel any today (i know val. is long acting though)

more simply put: have any of you gone to detox for alcoholism b/c of some minor physical withdrawal, stopped drinking for 6 days, took the 4 day benzo comedown too help withdrawals, then on that 6th day (2 days off everything) drank? And did your withdrawals come back?

appreciate any insight. thanks!

honestly?? really??? is alchohol that great... sorry that's not even a question... effect slightly better then a benzo and that's not even a "high" but a social anxiety relief.. I often ponder alchohol vs anti anxiety pharms... is the effect worth the addiction potential?
