I originally wanted to post this in OD or another more in-depth forum but I dunno how I select a "thread prefix"
Move if needed I guess lol.

I could of never found out why alcohol produces more euphoria than benzos for the ED50.
I've read they both act on the same receptors and I recently read(which drove me to post this) that alcohol reaches the reward system(dopamine) but I brushed that off as bullshit but started to think that it could make sense as I do feel way more euphoric and happy while out on booze than if I were zombified by the dreaded benzo pills.
Like don't you feel a noticeable difference in sense of euphoria with alcohol that with benzos?

Let's say I pop 2mg xanax(no tolerance)
I'd get totally spaced out n 'drunk' but not like the happy giddy drunk like if I were to drink a third of a fifth of spirits(lol that sounded funny but 250ml).

Why does this happen? And it's not uncommon for this to occur. I know of many posters talking about the lack of euphoria provided by benzos.

Like what's the difference in mechanism of action if they both act on the same receptors? (GABA-A? I believe, I could be wrong)

There were some threads that explained this in detail and I will search. Both benzos and alcohol are gabaergic but I believe alcohol hits other places too. I find alcohol somewhat stimulating while Xanax just sends me to sleep. I'm sure there are people who find benzos euphoric but I'm not one of them.

alcohol acts on plenty of receptors, not just GABA ones, and i personally think that that alcohol body buzz (which ime is not present when you take benzos, and is what i love about alcohol) is due to its dissociative effects - i just read recently alcohol is an antagonist at glutamate receptors such as NMDA receptors just like regular dissociatives and it kinda blew my mind-.

also i don't think alcohol is euphoric in itself, at least not for me, more like all the vibe around drinking. if you're in a social setting where everybody is drinking and having a good time the anxiolytic effects of the booze will make you socialize more, be more talkative, and then as you drink more you're just plain dumb and stupid and everything is fun.

i can drink at home and pass out without any euphoria, just getting numb and dizzy

just my 2 cents

EDIT: also just to explain further i do believe alcohol is a dissociative, just a very weak one, and at the same time a GABAergic. come on man the difference between an alcohol buzz and a benzo buzz (unexistent ime) is very noticeable. also it's impossible to reach those dissociative psychedelic states with alcohol because you pass out way before that due to its GABAergy

Thanks T. I really should start using the search engine more. It's just I feel like I could never get my EXACT question answered that way and I was unaware of these threads

NMDA antagonism, serotonin release, anandamide release, and dopamine release independant of GABA agonism are some of the mechanisms alcohol boasts over benzos

All of that ^ is so odd to believe that they've approved this drug to keep us dumb and sell to all the masses.

Booze sounds so unhealthy now. Serotonin release, dope release, nmda antagonism and GABA agonist? What's this shit?
A fuckin anti-depressant/anxiety nmda drug? Lol wtf. And we binge drink like it fuckin water too.
It really upsets me when people dunno what they're putting in their bodies and the neuro-toxicity of the drugs they do.

I be like alcohol is very neuro-toxic and you look down on my for poppin a few benzos and swallowing some cough syrup.
They look at me like "neuro-waa?"

Drug ignorance is the worst form of ignorance. Very dangerous game

i guess the 5HT and DA release are very small though... alcohol doesnt seem quite euphoric at least for me, absolute downer

yeah alcohol is unhealthy but recreationally it beats benzos hands down imo, of course benzos beat alcohol hands down when it comes to anxiety relief
