Alcohol - Experienced - It only gets worse

In Aus Drug I often post news articles about alcohol abuse & related issues, it's important in a country like Australia that we encourage wider society to think of alcohol as a drug. I'm a non-drinker myself, I take it the OP is an Aussie too since they mention a Grinspoon concert ;)

Its fun, but u never know if the guy ur talking to in a bar is serious or not.

Are you sure about that? Because I have never heard that at all.
I will try to dig-out scientific data for you on the issue, although researching ethanol is such a pain in the ass!

For the time being, I have read in several magazines (National Geographic comes to mind) that the world's most healthy populations have one thing in common: they all drink alcohol in moderation (with dinner, for example). Another thing they had in common was that fish was their primary diet.

But even before reading such articles, I remember this as being common knowledge for a very long time. I'm actually surprised you haven't heard of it.

For me personally, having a glass or two of wine brings out a poetic, sanguine facette of myself that I was unaware of before I started drinking (again, in moderation - these effects go away if I drink more than abovementioned limit and are in fact reversed).

I believe the red wine is the one that has the antioxidants. So get yourself a good cabernet and have a glass or two a week.
I suppose this is replied to already in the above posts - however, I take L-theanine (both pure and naturally in tea) and eat lots of fruit daily, and seem to be fine. I honestly never really got into the whole anti-oxidant craze...

Thats a good point, when people ever make an issue out of my drug use I point out if they consider alcohol a drug then their drug use happens much more frequently than mine and possibly does more damage.

I think alcohol is fucking shit. I rarely drink nowadays, maybe I'll have one night of drinking in a month and only cause it's a social thing to do. And even then I just get a little buzz going on, nothing to intense. So many other better substances out there; hell I'd probably prefer being sober to drunk now.

Drinking lost its magic for me too. I get on a downer and start craving better drugs :D

Its not surprising considering for hundreds of years entire populations consumed primarily alcoholic beverages because of sanitation concerns, we likely adapted to handle alcohol and now even benefit from it.
