Alcohol and benzos rock the bells in moderation. The equivalent to 1mg of xanax is the most I take whilst combining the two. IME 0.5mg Xanax or 10mg Valium is where it's at for benzos and booze for me. They calm the aggressiveness experienced by the alcohol and add to the wave effect. If you have social anxiety and/or don't like to drink too much, these pills kill 2 birds with one stone. I've always found that they've allowed me to elevate to a level of intoxication in which I would have usually needed to drink more alcohol to reach.
But for the sake of HR, NEVER take more than the equivalent to 1mg of xanax whilst drinking. That's my golden rule. I've always been able to avoid blackouts, sloppy behaviour and dirty hangovers.
On a Side Note though. I've found the benzo-booze combo to sort of become very heavy at times (lazy, droopy wanting to sit). Not really the alcohol but the more drank the more the meds interact and the more GABA agonism. What I've found to help this is a single line of cocaine. Then after 45-60mins I'd take another benzo.
New years I had some booze then 5mg Valium, feelings got very heavy and asked a friend for a taste, had a line, partied hard for 45mins then took 10mg Valium. Smoked green throughout as well. Amazing combo. Just that one line of coke tho. I find cocaine fucks me up the more I sniff.
Anyway though, booze and opiates/opioids are a big no no. 1 beer at max.
