Albert Hofmann has passed away today

Wow, I think it's incredible he made it to 102! Most people who don't do any drugs can't make it that long

RIP Dr. Hofmann, you will be missed

It's a shame that he has passed away, but it was wonderful that he made it to such a high age, and with such spirit untill his last day. He is a clear example of the wonders of LSD, to which he probaply ows much of his vitality which helped him reach the incredible age of 102, R.I.P. Albert Hofmann.

It is intensely sad when such a well-respected member of the world community must pass on. Dr. Hofmann was blessed with the gift of a long, fruitful, creative life; and that is quite fortuitous indeed. I'm glad that he can now return to the place from which he came and rejoin his wife Anita.

Dr. Hofmann: Your discovery permanently changed my entire life for the better and led me toward the formal academic study of chemistry; a subject that is incalculably dear to me. For this, I sincerely thank you. I firmly believe that the discovery of lysergic acid diethylamide was a crucially important event for the continued success of the human race. For everything: Thank you, Dr. Hofmann! And Bon Voyage.

Expressing Eternal Gratitude

Bless you Albert Hofmann
I will be forever grateful to you
And the wonderful difference you made in my life
One thousand Thank You's
May your sacred soul be dancing in the Cosmos

Light ~ Free ~ Happy

Love

Hopefully there will be reasonable people to carry on his legacy of responsible psychedelic use (ie not recreational). RIP Albert Hoffman, you were one of the greatest minds the world has ever known.

As a rule I stay away from RIP threads, but this is different.

Very sad news.

RIP Albert.

Thank You For your discoveries have affected millions.

Good luck to him in the next phase of Life and death

So how old was he, he was in his early hundreds right? Really debunks the claim that LSD is an "addictive, deadly substance".

RIP albert hoffman, you were a good man and a better influence. May you be happy in whatever life there is to live

A moment of silence for a fallen hero and perhaps the patron saint of psychedelia. At least at age 102, we can't say that he didn't live a full life. Repugnant is a society that would prosecute use of Hofmann's gift to all mankind to a fuller extent than most violent crimes. I can only hope things improve posthumously for his wonderful creation. It is a remarkable chemical, full of tremendous promise. For example, it is no coincidence that most of the individuals who helped in first launching the modern age of computers, software and networking protocols had taken LSD. Unfortunately, it was introduced before society was ready for it, before we had any insight into the neuropharmacology and effects of psychedelics: people dove into the fucking deep end without even knowing how to swim. Ironically, it was the development of LSD--a completely synthetic, engineered compound--that catalyzed the modern investigations of the psychedelics that have been used by mankind for millennia (like psilocin, mescaline and DMT) and a re-emergence of this ancient knowledge into society.

I always wanted to meet him and thank him for LSD, ask him about his first trip, his synthetic methods, etc... So, I'll say it here just for the sake of saying it: thanks man, you let me know what it is like to feel human, to feel grateful for being alive, to overcome and to evolve. Peace.

Oh yeah, also, thanks for Hydergine--the promise of the ergoloids, psychedelic or not, to advance human cognition is apparent here, as well.
