Hi, I am new here and found the site after researching a new med that my Dr just put me on (NUVIGIL 250 mg), I wanted to see if I could have a few drinks today since I had already taken it before the offer presented itself. Who am I kidding, I don't need a offer!

Am I an alcoholic? Some would say yes, I believe that I am just your basic high functioning abuser.... I was having trouble dealing with my anxiety last summer, I always have but since the birth of our daughter it became a lot worse and it was something that I felt I couldn't ignore and still raise a well-rounded child, so off to therapy I went and I was diagnosed with ADHD, generalized anxiety disorder & depression. My Dr started of by prescribing me 5mg of zoloft and when I went back for the next appt, we discussed that fact that I felt that I wanted to focus more on the ADHD since I feel that is a large part of my anxiety & depression.

Ok, I'm getting there, I promise!! I've been trying different meds and haven't found one that seems to be working. So, far we've tried Concerta, Vyvanse, Metedate, Adderal, Ritalin LA & now NUVIGIL 250mg. I'm not sure what if anything it's doing for me since it's my 1st day taking it and it's only been 6 hrs and I did have a couple of drinks...

I guess what I'm trying to find out if there is anyone else out there that hasn't seen results that they were expecting on any of those meds? I'm feeling kind of frusterated at this point... Sorry for the long post and if this isn't the right place I apoligise in advance.

Welcome :)

Yeah.. controlling anxiety and ADHD is somewhat common around here. You can find info on those kinds of drugs in Basic Drug Discussion and also in Other Drugs. Please read the forum guidelines for each forum before posting so you know whats expected of you when posting or making a thread.

Are you sure you meant 5mg of zoloft? Most people take 50mg of it.

Welcome to Bluelight! :D. I also have ADHD, although I take d-amphetamine for it.

I also tend to have more issues with insomnia than anxiety, but I also have PTSD so I still get anxious at times.

There are a ton of great resources here for us. PM me if you'd like, and enjoy!

Thanks for the replies!
I thought I had read and understood the guidelines - sorry.
Yes, I am certain about the Zoloft, my Dr likes to take things slow, he was the same in the beginning with the ADHD meds but now he writes the scripts for the max FDA dosage, which frustrates him because that's all my insurance will cover.
I'll be surfing around here tomorrow for sure.

Just be careful when coming off of Zoloft, it can be extremely unpleasant if not properly tapered. 5mg is a very small dosage in comparison though. :)

I remember taking 4 days to taper off of 100mg zoloft per day, it was hellish (and my doctor told me to taper off of it over a period of just 2 days! 8()
