I have a large supply of both Agomelatine 12.5mg tabs and Tianeptine 12.5mg tabs, from what i know they are anti depressants, Agomelatine being a 5-HT Antagonist and Tianeptine being an SSRE, yet are both known for there sedative properties, i have a lot of sleep problems and im pretty much tolerant to the sleep inducing properties of Benzos.

Would either of these drugs be any good for helping me fall asleep and have a good nights sleep?

I dont plan on taking them regulary, just when i feel in absolute need.

I also have some Promethazine and i can buy more of this or Diphenhydramine OTC here in the UK but right now i dont really have the money to buy these.

Thanks as always ;)

I'm not really familiar with either drug I'm afraid Pete, beyond what you know and taking a look at wikipedia.. always wary of using drugs which are used to treat mental health problems for sleep, but I know a lot of people do it. Proceed with caution, I would say..

Promethazine helps me sleep a lot for the first few nights then it stops working, but if I take a short break it starts again. Not tried diphenhydramine for sleeping before but it is sedating, not likely to work if promethazine has stopped working though I would say so I wouldn't think you could alternate them.

Yeah thanks.

I always try to not take Promethazine or Diphenhydramine on consectutive nights anyway for fear of building any sort of tolerance and i may use one of them for a few nights one week and then not again touch either of them for the a couple of weeks.

As for the Agomelatine/Tianeptine i had this idea of self medicating according to medical procedure guidlines, well especially the Agomelatine, 25mg per day and then after 2-3 weeks either keep at that dose or up it to 50mg per day according to how the first 2-3 weeks made me feel.

I have an unlimited supply so running out is not a problem and tapering correctly would also be something i would adhere to.

Ive heard limited yet mainly positive results/experiences about Agomelatine, yet i do say 'limited' as i believe its a very new drug as far as Anti-Depressants go.

However and i quote " In March 2006, Servier announced it had sold the rights to market agomelatine in the United States to Novartis.[7] It was undergoing several phase III clinical trials in the US, and until October 2011 Novartis listed the drug as scheduled for submission to the FDA no earlier than 2012.[8] However, the development for the US market was discontinued in October 2011, when the results from the last of those trials became available.[9]

It is currently sold in Australia under the Valdoxan trade name.

So from what i read there the trials proved negative or insufficient for the drug to be marketed in the U.S :(

Btw im from the U.K
