Afterparties... your thoughts

Why do some people who roll/rolling think that chilling together in a small hotel room is chill? I don't think I like that environment much...

The one afterparty I tried to go to was so sketch we just left. Didn't even get in - there were like 3 cars and a guy holding a maglight like he was security or something. Wanted our "password"... WTF

So what's the deal with afterparties are they fueled because oft' the event attendees are still rolling? It's totally lame that the mainline DJ's coming for NYE have expressed interest in afterparties but no one on our rave board is advertising anything.

To sum things up, I'd love to chill with NAPT!

PS: lots of BLer are rolling NYE... what do you do when you go to the afterparty?

My last roll was in a hotel room.
It was actually pretty fun.
the security guard seems like a touch of paranoia on his part...
after parties are cool just because you can chill there and comedown and still have a lot of fun. and you dont have to worry about driving while high....
i say give it another chance but this time, get a room with some friends and just kick it :)
 
I think it really depends on the people - a small gathering where people can chill out / chat about the event can be great fun.
 
Afterparty at a hotel room?

Every afterparty I have been to has been at another smaller venue, usually from 6am-noon or so depending on when the main party ended. Are you sure you weren't just getting tricked by someone into going to a hotel room for some sexytime? lol
 
Hotel rooms?

That kinda sucks, i have friends that live in the city.

Go back to someone's place.... someone pulls out a bag of ketamine, and we all fall into a hole and end up a cuddle puddle on the bed..... And by the time that is over, the sun is up and i want to go home and shower, or i might nap a bit for a safer drive.
 
Locally we don't really have a lot of "afterparties" sometimes there are advertised ones but I don't know if anyone even goes there.

A guy I met at the last rave said he's getting a hotel room to go back and chill at ya know..
 
I have not ever gone to an event where there was not an after party. Whether the afterparty is at a hotel, another venu, a camp grounds, or a persons house / apartment varies from party to party.

I have been to after parties that took up an entire floor of a hotel.

And I have been to after parties that consisted of hundreds of people in the woods or campgrounds.

Ive been to empty wherehouse after parties and I have been to private parties at peoples houses.

I personally prefer going back to a more intimate environment after the event.

I dont ever have to worry about the entertainment though as me and most of my friends are DJs , we are usually the ones hosting the party or organizing it.

I LOVE AFTERPARTIES. Way better than the main event. You can actually intimately get to know people and share more of the experience with them. Its a great feeling.

But I HATE sketch as fuck after parties, and dont go, since usually If I am not going to the afterparty my friends are not either (because we think a lot alike etc) and if me and my friends want to do something still we can just start our own party.
 
It makes sense to have a place to go and relax after dancing. Personally I prefer rolling in that type of environment with a small group, and then when I'm coming down I like to be by myself. But if you're still rolling or find comfort in being around people once you are coming down, then it seems like a good place to go if the crowd is not too sketchy.
 
Afterparties here are often at a park or at someone's house / appt. I've only been to a few because normally after 8 hours of raving all I want to do is sleep haha.
 
I've always found them to be pretty gross. I hate the environment. A few times in Toronto though, I went to an "afterparty" on Cherry Beach... it was amazing. A couple hundred ravers just hanging out on the beach... :) Other than that though, the only afterparty I go to is my own, with only the people I came with.
 
After my group of friends I roll we have an amazing time hanging out at my place playing music, petting animals, drinking juice...whatever. It's sometimes the most meaningful, enjoyable part of the night. I find MDMA makes you quite comfortable wherever you are, its a nice change of pace from a huge expensive event to just hang out somewhere with a few other people rolling.
 
^^^ I agree. When I think of the word afterparty though, I think of way too many strangers in a hotel room doing way too many drugs after a rave. They are always going down in the hotel I am staying at and I stay clear. The only people invited to my hotel room are people I know that came with me. Nice and private.
