If you get clean of hydrocodone, say after a month, 2, 3 months. If you take hydrocodone for a day or two will you get withdrawals?

No you shouldn't get any real withdrawals, but it's extremely easy to tell yourself you are going to only use it once or twice and end up using it every day again.

This, you won't get physical withdrawals from coming back to it for a day or two, but you very may well end up with the psychological withdrawals that you fought so hard to keep at bay, please be careful. :)

And you will develop the depedence again faster if you have had it before. Some "ex." junkies say they can use their DOC a day or two without real withdrawals, still some mini-withdrawals are possible even after 2-3days if you have a history.

Was just curious, but I couldn't agree more with yall because that would be my main concern is just going back to my old ways. I do still like it, and prefer to do it over drinking or smoking weed so that's why I was curious if I could do it as a weekend thing or something I do every once in a while. Only thing with me, I have a prescription to them, but my doctor is in Houston and I live in Dallas...so yes I would drive down once a month to refill my script. Sound like an addict? lol. The doctor I went to was basically a pill mill and I have yet to find one up here in Dallas. I would get 120 lorcets and 90 somas, then usually sell like 10 to 20 lorcets to a buddy of mine...and all that would last me a month. But with that said, I only have one connection here and Dallas and he hardly has them so I wouldn't have regular access to them so that's why I'm wondering if maybe I can do them every now and then without withdrawals

I also thought I would share my experience with yall.

So for a little bit about my background, I've been on hydrocodone for 4 years. I first got into them when I injured my back working out, I was prescribed hydrocodone 5/500 and somas. I remember laying on the couch hardly being able to move but yet in love with this new cocktail. Plus I was smoking a lot of weed then so I got a really good buzz. I continued to use these after my injury and after my prescription as they were easy to get. After 2 years I was up to taking 20 lorcets a day before I realized I had a problem so I decided to cut back on them and try to get clean. Well that was easier said then done. I was able to cut back, but not get off of them completely. Pretty much I would have 100 to 120 lorcets last me a month so I was taking anywhere from 2 to 8 a day depending on what I was doing or if I was partying. I've been trying to get off and get clean but it's been so hard and I've been so stressed lately that it just seemed impossible. Well recently I got fired from the job I was working at which set me back on money so this month I was unable to go to my doctor and refill my prescription so I saw this as a sign to get clean.

I ended up buying 2 suboxone strips from a friend of mine who is off of heroin to help me get thru these withdrawals. Now, I'm no where near as bad off as some other people coming off opiates, like taking 60 to 70 lorcets a day or popping oxys like they were candy, but being as I've been on them for almost 4 years straight, I'm going to have some physical and mental discomfort.

So my plan is to take a low dose of suboxone to make it thru this week of hell and withdrawals so I can still work and function since I just got a new job. I've pretty much planned it out to go thru 1 strip in 10 days to ease this transition and get clean. I just started today and took 2mgs of suboxone 20 hours after my last lorcet, and I must say I was very impressed with how much it helped. I actually feel quite normal and feel no withdrawal or discomfort what so ever. Right before I took it I was withdrawaling and craving some bad and just wished I had one more pill left. But I took it and after 2 hours I felt like my normal self again. My plan for the rest of this is to take 2mgs tomorrow, then 1mg for 2 days, then 0.5mgs for 2 days, and so on until I use one strip. That way I won't get addicted to it and won't have to deal with the physical withdrawals.

I'll keep you guys posted on how my detox goes and I would love to hear some feedback on this. I've read of several other people trying this method to ease the physical part of it which for me is what always kept me taking them everyday. Also another quick question, would it be ok to have a drink? I know you shouldn't drink on it and if you do to keep it to a minimum, but I wasn't sure since I'm on such a low dose. I just really wanted a jack on the rocks...just one lol. Also, I'm not sure how I'm going to sleep tonight so could I take a tylenol pm? Thanks for the help guys!

My 2 cents. Take plain OTC Benadryl instead of Tylenol PM. Same crap no APAP. Unless you are in pain and need it. I was told u could take as much as 75 mgs and generics are super cheap.

Unfortunately tylenol pm is all I have on me. But I'll try that tomorrow night. I do have a little bit of a head so maybe the tylenol will help. How about maybe having a small glass of jack daniels tonight as well or is that too much stuff?

pretty much...i wouldn't try it. going back to the vicious circle of addiction to your DOC especially is really not recomended and might not go as well as you think. regarding WD's after a single use, though? 99% odds you probably won't suffer at all...

Another reason not to take the Tylenol. Bad for the liver and mix in Jack. Bye bye liver!

I ended up not taking the Tylenol and just had a small glass of jack, it was literally like a 2 or 3 ounce pour. I'm probably gonna take the tylenol pm tonight instead of a drink. I had a hard time sleeping last night but it was probably from not having any hydrocodone. Today is day 2 without any opiates, it's been a good 48 hours without any pills and I must say I feel pretty good. The suboxone is definitely helping out a lot which I am very happy with because I was worrying a lot that it might now work or help me. The only side effects I've experienced is a mild headache. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to get off opiates, even for short term use

in my experience ABSOLUTELY but tolerance can very from person to person,i didnt use for 6 months then i broke my nose in a car accident and i didnt abuse the vics but when they were gone i was HURTING

Just curious.. Have you notice?? Drinking alcohol while on suboxone is different. It takes a lot more alcohol to catch a buzz- or am I going crazy?

No but when i did this if i dosed consecutively for three or even two days depending on how many doses you squeeze into the time frame, i could identify the withdrawal. Usually with opiates, you wanna dose once per 2-3 days to prevent physical dependence but this is nearly impossible as an ex addict speaking from experience.

Withdrawal also seems to have some factor of relevancy to it, also. So you could feel just as shitty from low dose addiction as higher dose addiction since it's relative to how you feel at the time. It's weird.

I was clean for a week then smoked H for 1 day and got some mild but annoying withdrawals since I thought I was done with those shits. It depends on alot of factors also like if your healthy or not etc

When I said no there would be no real withdrawals, I was talking about using hydrocodone once after being completely clean for 2-3 months. It's true that some people, especially if they were dependent on opioids for a long time previously, can use once and feel like they are getting mild withdrawal symptoms as the mind is so conditioned to associate coming off opioids with withdrawal. Using for a few days is even more likely to produce some withdrawals, as is using after only being clean off heroin for a week. Of course it's different for everyone, and even psychological withdrawal symptoms caused by conditioning can be almost as miserable as real withdrawal symptoms. Either way, I'd say it's important to avoid because it is incredibly easy to go back to using again even if you tell yourself you're only going to use once.
