So I had the great idea last night of popping 20 of Oxycodone 5mg / 325mg APAP (total 6500mg) last night. I also had four drinks earlier in the night like five hours earlier. I woke up this morning feeling okay, a tiny bit of nausea only. It's been 12 hours now. I'm a fit 20 yr old male 60kg (132lbs) and a moderate drinker, no liver problems at all. Am I just being paranoid or am I in serious trouble?

Thank you!

6.5 grams of APAP is something serious. Please seek help ASAP.

Go to a hospital and tell them what you took and drank, and what time at last night about.
I od on paracetamol 7 yrs ago, I left, I felt alrite - 36 hours later I passed out and woke up at a hospital 3 days later (so I'm told), and was informed I had died twice and I had liver failure. I recovered, but am very lucky to have not needed a transplant.
You might be ok BUT you did exceed the maximum, recommended dose in a 24 hour period, an you took it at once - so your livers had to work overtime.
You won't feel bad straightaway, creeps up on you, sweating, nausea, vomiting etc can take 24 hrs. If you get help before you feel bad you stand a better chance of full recovery if you have caused damage.
And if you've not caused any damage count yourself lucky and be more careful in future.
Hope you're ok.

curioushat it's difficult to say if you're at risk or not - though trust me, better to be safe than sorry! A few years ago, I was really drunk and thought it was a fabulous idea to take 40 Pan Forte (1 = 500mg APAP). Crashed out that night and was all good for a few days, forgetting the whole event.

Randomly at a BBQ about 4 days later I started to feel 'weird' and feverish all of a sudden. Went inside and had a lay down, then started light hallucinating out of no where. It didn't scare me either - I guess I was semi out of it. One of my parents came in to see if I was ok and I told them about two of my friends coming to 'see' me, all the while knowing this wasnt 'normal'. I was apparently really pale and sick looking - and parental unit said thought would be best to call ambulance. Got to hospital and family was told to call those who matters as I didn't have long. I had no idea what was going on and slipped pretty quick.

I needed two new kidneys and a new liver - none of which were available in Aus or NZ. Chopper was waiting to take me to RPA although I somehow stabalised and spent 12 days in high dependency ward. Not allowed any pain killers due to the state of my liver - and had to argue to the head doc about my benzo requirement as no good to go cold turkey.

Anyway enough ranting - point being, seek medical advice... as fatality can be on the cards 8o

Hope all is ok and remember, seeking medical help isn't going to (in most cases) get you into trouble! Keeping your fingers crossed ain't going to be the medical solution you might need.

Take care!!

Agree with everyone else. You've taken an APAP overdose. People vary in their ability to handle it, but it can be fatal, and the fact that you've been drinking too makes me even more concerned..

The symptoms/signs don't usually appear until the 24-48 hr mark and can indicate that irreversible liver damage has occurred, so it's really important to get yourself to the hospital ASAP even if you don't feel too unwell. 12 hours is approaching the time when treatment becomes less effective, so please go now!

I'm going to close this as there really isn't anything else that can be added and I'd rather you headed to the hospital right now instead of waiting for responses - but PM me if you have any queries or want to let us know how you are doing. Good luck <3

In the future please perform a cold water extraction to remove the APAP if you are going to be consuming that much.. your liver will thank you!
