What's up CD

So it's well known that the Taliban make a lot of their money through opiate trafficking, but does anybody know if they are at all involved in the cannabis trade? I ask because I picked up a gorgeous lump of Afghan pollen hash yesterday and I feel slightly uncomfortable with the idea that my money might be helping to finance extremism...I like to get high with a clean conscience. :D

You live in europe or asia? I only ask because the stuff I've seen sold as afgani in the US is unquestionably domestic.

Afgani hash is a complex issue. Here is a much more in depth article about it than you must have ever expected :)

The geopolitics of Afghani hash
http://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/2225.html

A few excerpts:
The US government knows that the Northern Alliance uses the profits it makes from selling heroin and hashish to fund its war against the Taliban. This profit chain includes marketing of Northern Alliance hashish to Dutch coffee shops. At the end of the clandestine "pipeline" that brings Afghan hash to Holland are coffee shop owners who pay about $4000 per kilo for the Alliance's product.

In the intersection of commerce, politics and cannabis created by the illegal system that provides marijuana products for the Dutch retail market, Afghan hash is perhaps the only cannabis commodity imprinted with a revolutionary slogan. In gold letters, stenciled on the hardened brown crust of each slate, are the words "Freedom for Afghanistan," or "Freedom of Afghanistan." These slogans are the calling cards of the Northern Alliance.

There's a lot of worry about Afghan hash in Holland these days. Most coffee shop owners, even those who consider themselves hashish specialists, are scared to associate their name with quotes about such hash. Some Dutch cannabists assume that the Afghan hash trade provides funding for the Northern Alliance's fight against the Taliban, others suspect that all factions in Afghanistan export hashish and heroin.

"Buying slates of Afghan hash from the Alliance is a very direct way to fund the Alliance's fight against the Taliban," one shop owner asserted. "If we want to fight terrorism, the best thing we can do is buy Afghan hash."

Another coffee shop owner said that he bought hash marked with Alliance slogans, "even though it is a slower seller and costs more than I think it is worth."

Then again, just because someone fights the taliban doesn't mean they are good people either.

That was a fascinating article man, cheers. Looks like an extremely murky situation to be honest - either it's supporting the Taliban, or supporting people fighting the Taliban (but you're right, that doesn't mean they are necessarily good people), and I guess there's a chance that it's just produced by local farmers with no ties to either group.

I'm in the UK, but domestic hash is unheard of here and my dealer is a trustworthy guy so I'm fairly certain that what I have is the real deal. Plus it looks exactly like the stuff in the second picture in the article :D

Last May, the US gave the Taliban $43 million, congratulating them for supposedly eliminating 90% of the country's opium poppy cultivation in the previous growing season.

That is referring to May 2001 but still, Jesus Christ....

Toke up in peace bro you are a Freedom Fighter!

Nope, it's all north american. It's just not cost effective or worth the possible trouble to import. If you run across it though the pressed dry sift that they sell as it is worth buying at least once, at least the stuff i've had was good stuff - i prefer it to bubble for the flavor.

Drug money doesn't fund terrorism... if that's what you're trying to ask...

If you are in the US, you are getting supplied by Mexico and California no matter what coast you are at. That and homegrown.
