i'm lost please help!
floating on a sea,
far removed from everything
hold your breath
and deep dive
let it stretch out
beyond the blackness and oblivion
where the only sound comes
from the beating of your heart

to get where you are going
you have to let go
of the person you were
and the one you wanted to be
step out into the unknown
it is ok to be afraid

no one can tell you
how it is suppose to be
their experience is personal
not meant for you nor me
we can only learn by doing
and grow by making mistakes
so step out across the boundries
you erected to feel so safe

take comfort in the little things
like sunrises reflected on winter white
the soft sounds of cars
or the muffled sound of children
revelling in their first snowball fight
these are the moments
living forever in our memories
we can take them out
like pictures
to remind us of the good times
before setting of into the darkness
of this winter night.

Sometimes it takes me a bit to read things,,, slow like that ;)

I have always had a theory on what works with poetry and was does when you read it.
This piece to me carries quite a few things that make good poetry.

you have flow of words
you bring emotions into it
also with visualization

Man i am impressed by this piece. :)

i read your post and seriously had shivers run down my spine. got up to grab a drink of water and got secondary shivers reading it again. thank you so much for the compliment cherub.

i fully believe this too.

i kept changing my theory on this throughout my life. Back when i was a naive teenager, and wanted to believe that everyone was good, i thought that people could change -- for the better, for good. i thought if you were determined enough to leave part of yourself behind, you could.

but i found out the hard way that people -- they never really change for good. They "modify" themselves, let's say. But you find out down the road that there is always that shadow of who they once were. And i changed my theory again -- People Dont Change.

But i chalked it up to one bad experience. Or a few. Because there are things about MYSELF that i wanted to leave in the past. And its been years, and for the most part, i have. So once again i beleive -- People can change.

But you have to make up your mind one day to do it and not look back. If you dont let go all at once, part of you will still try to hang on from some small fray.

Your advice is not only to yourself, but also to me, not to look back on decisions already made.
