Okay. I am gonna perform a IV injection for the first time tomorrow. I have yet to get the syringes yet because I don't know if I should get 1cc or 2cc syringes.
BTW, I will be injecting half of a 8mg Dilaudid.

Thank you.

'Perform an injection'... lol. Please make sure you have someone with you to show you how to do it first hand, you are going to screw up enough with help that attemping it on your own is asking for many missed shots and more bruised up arms in a best case scenario.

Since you are shooting a pill make sure you use a good filtration technique, it is very dangerous- see below.

Also never use a needle more than once, twice maximum if you miss and want to try again without getting a new rig but after that it gets way too hooked and nasty and will screw up your veins.

Anyway 1CC is the best all around size, people tend to drop down to 1/2cc for most uses when they have more experience and don't need the extra room for error. I only used 1CCs for pills or stuff that needed more volume to dilute. In the case of pills it helps to give you more to work with when filtering. As for needle tips- 31G is ideal ( larger number means smaller which is better) but I have only seen them in 5/16" length instead of the standard 1/2" and the shorter length can either help or make it more difficult for a beginner depending on their skin/veins. 30g 1/2" is pretty damn good. Most exchanges give out 27g and or 28g. 28g is a decent size for regular use and 27g starts to get big and painful. Stick with 29-31 if you can.

how to filter dilaudid as best as possible without a micron filter:

I'll start it off with the filtering method I post over and offer since it really is great since microns are not practical for most users and this is free and very effective, and most people agree IVing is the only way to get a lot out of hydromorphone.

This filtering technique is free, quick, easy and is for the 99% of people who are going to shoot pills without a micron in this case hydromorphone). It really works at least 50 times better than just sucking up through a cotton ball or nothing.

Start by getting the supplies you need: a new syringe, preferably 1ml or 3ml, a cotton ball or other cotton source, a paperclip, and a mixing cap. Wash your hands thoroughly and get started. First uou can remove the needle but that is optional/preference. Most people will have 1ml and 1/2ml syringes lying around, go for the bigger ones, I have found 3ml to be the ideal size for extremely efficient filtering but 1/2cc works well too if that's the largest you have. Now take the cotton ball and cut some strips that can be doubled up and inserted into the barrel of the syringe with a paper clip, you can use any cotton, using one or two pieces form a cotton ball is just a little easier than 15 from q-tips. Pack the cotton down firmly with the plunger to the 30-40 unit line on a 1cc or 1/2cc syringe or .5ml on a 3ml.

Here is a little side step for pre-filtering pills with a lot of gunk and it is also good for very effectively quick filtering pills that don't need much of any filtering (suboxone) or just street drugs. Sterilize an old syringe and remove the needle. Mix up the solution and drop a cotton ball in, press the needless syringe straight down on it creating a firm seal and draw back. It should be pretty well filtered, many times just this is enough.

Anyway whether you prefilter or not, for the best possible filtration with spare supplies you already have just back load the solution to be filtered into the barrel full of cotton, insert the plunger and push through. The result is extremely translucent and well filtered and the best of any home method I have seen, it doesn't compare to anything except for a micron. nothing really gets stuck in the cotton in the barrel either, just remove the plunger and push it down again and the air will force everything remaining out. i generally filter it directly into the barrel of the syringe I'll be shooting with. You can try filtering multiple times with multiple filters like this if you're really paranoid but I have found one done right is great.

Excellent post, Oxy. Top notch info all round. Have nowt to add other than to jump on the 1ml waggon too - all the kewl katz use 1ml sharps. Or 0.5nl if not only a kewl kat but one with functioning veins left. 2ml and above (8o) are only any use for plugging, in my opinion. Horrid, messy, stabby things. 1ml ftw <3

PS: Hope you have some nice long-sleeve pully's and the like, Genome. You will be needing them soon enough - and only partly cos it's cold. Your choice and all that, but the katz who are truly too kewl to fool stayed away from the needle and kept some semblance of a circulatory system... amongst other stuff. Good luck :)

PPS: Ha! Reading that back makes me sounds like a bit of a pins and needles fetishist. Probably cos I am and it's gettin' around to my monthly dig for victory time. It's amazing how such Spikes of Goodness that cause so many Spikes of Badness :\

1cc is best IMO. A good shot size is typically 30-50 units as well.

31g short tips are my favorite kind, followed by 29g. Long tips can be tricky if you're skinny like me. I unknowingly got long tips once and missed almost every shot to some extent :\.

I ask for 31g , 1cc , short tip. You really need the 1cc's if you are doing pills, you need the extra room for sure. 1/2cc's wont be able to get everything at once most likely. I like BD brand. Make sure you get short tips!
