About three months ago...I missed a very large shot of meth. 60 ml. All 60 missed! Immediately I placed my hand in in warm water and within half and hour...my circulation was not good. My feet and legs were goin numb and then my arms. And my hands were swelling Hot water was the only thing that helped as well as elevation. Meanwhile the injection site had a redness that was growing quickly and within the same half hour...a solid red circle about the. Size of a CD had formed. After three days straight of elevation, hot compresses and showers, ice packs and taking it easy the redness started to turn black and blue and eventually out of no where it vanished. All except a small lump that has formed but seems to come and go. As well as blackish coloring that also comes n goes. Occasionally I get tingling numbness or pain in all parts of my arm...however my concern is since this bumpish thing appeared....I have experienced what can best be described as heartburn or that intense feeling in ur heart when u get the rush. I'm concerned. Should I be? I have pics. Please give me some advice! I haven't used since that day.

Although you did yourself no favours by not seeking a medical professional at the time, it'd be well worth your time going to a doctor even now, especially if you're still suffering from the damage caused. If a missed shot is giving you grief 3 months after it happened, you need to see someone about it.

We'll be able to give you decent advice here but unfortunately we can't treat you.

Possible infection that hasn't gotten bad ?

60ml is MASSIVE i can't even imagine.. are you sure that is accurate? Thats literally over 2 ounces of fluid you missed in your hand? Hard to beleive.

It was my arm...above the elbow...and yes it was a full syringe. Guess I'm not quite too familiar with the terms...but it full to the 60 mark.

Describe the barrel.. is it about as long and thick as a bic pen, or more like the thickness of a cock (sorry I couldn;t think of anything else to compare to lol).

For instance, generally an oral syringe will be 10 ML or 10 cc's. Here in NYC at syringe exhcnages and pharmacies the most popular pins are 29g 1/2" tip and 1cc barrel (which is 100 units). This is likely the size syringe you had.. Where is the methadone from, pills, a syrup from the clinic, or what? If it's the syrup you are injecting I have seen people using monsterous pins to shoot it.. I just feel like it would be impossible to miss 60 cc's because even missing 60 units woudl inflict quite a bit of pain. To actually get 2 ounces of fluid under your skin and not into your vein would take effort lol.

No way it's 2 ounces, hah. That's impossible. That's sooo much fucking liquid.. Anyway, back to the topic at hand.. 3 months is a long time. It's probably infected if it is still present after so long. You should definitely be concerned and go to a doctor..you should have gone months ago when you saw it was still bad after a week..

OK...OK...to clarify...it was 60 units...not ml. Sorry for the confusion. And yes it was a 29 gauge ½ inch syringe.

Before I say anything I want to advise that you go to the hospital or atleast a walk in clinic. If you are experiencing increasing numbness and swelling after 24 hours that is a very bad sign. For all you know you have a staff infection in your blood and your body is barely fighting it right now..tomorrow you might wake up and your arm has made a quick turn for the worst and when you get to the ER you are going to hear the word amputation. Seriously, be logical, if your concern is enough that you would create a username on a forum, make a post, take pictures, it is obviously serious. Don't you think that warrants going to a doctor?

Did the swelling and numbing you mention start instantly? Did the swelling/burning/numbness feel like it traveled away from the injection site? For example if you inject in the crook of your elbow and instantaneously as you are pushing the syringe the pain/swelling/etc. traveled down your arm and your hand was to become swollen. What I just described is how you would react to pushign even a single unit into an artery. At first I thought that might be the case, but to inject 60 units you would have experience severe pain while pushing the plunger. But from what you describe it sounds more like a missed shot.. the swelling took a few minutes to start up and is localized to your injection site. Numbness can be related to the swelling or trauma you caused to nervesd. a red mark the size of a cd is pretty serious though man

What you were shooting? Was it methadone pills or methadone syrup? I have a feeling it was pills because 60 units of syrup from a clinic would probably be barely anything. So assuming it was pills what was it filtered with(i.e. cotton, a micron filter, or no filter). You do have reason to be concerned man.. you only have one body and you cant buy body parts at Walmart.... I have missed a fwe shots in my day.. even a shot that siez filled with blood and I have never had anything more than moderate swelling..barely even visible along with minor pain at the injection site (only if I put pressure on it not when i am just sitting).

I am going to warn you that if you injected methadone pills and did not use a micron filter you are likely forming an abscess. You describe a lump under your skin. Dude just typing this reply I am wondering why your concern was not enough to get you to a doctor? Either way, you have no choice at this point now that a lump is forming under your skin. You need antibiotics for an abscess and also you might need the doctor to lance it.

On top of that you are experiencing sporadic discoloring/bruising and increases in pain/numbing in your whole arm....AND now your heart is giving you reason for concern? What will it take for you to see a doctor? Does the pain/visible symptoms have to become so severe your concerned you are going to die or something? Sorry I am being a dick but it blows my mind that people will put their limbs/life at risk because they are scared the doctors going to give them the death penalty because you are an IV drug user..or you don't wanna spend the money. Also the heartburn like feeling you describe in your heart you compare to a feeling you get when you inject dope and get a rush. You should not be having pain in your heart. That is scary.

Take a look at the iv complications thread. Once sepsis sets in (and god only knows what bacteria is brweing in your body) another 24-48 hours might go by and the pain might not even be unbearable...and when the doc finally sees you he'll be preparing his bone saw.

Okay...I'm convinced and am gonna go. But jus so everyone knows it was crystal meth. And the reason I'm afraid to go to doc is because onnone of the people in my life know that I was using and I don't want the doc to try and lecture me or send me to rehab.

Your medical info is not available to anyone not your relatives or even your wife unless you sign off on it.

And if he lectures you sit there and nod your head. You have to realize.. the doctors don't expect you to just let your arm rot off since your a drug user...they are not straight up evil. There will not be any handcuffs or busride to a locked down rehab either lol.

I mean all of these reasons sound so petty if you weigh the options. Bone saw or lecture, a few dirty looks from nurses - or amputation.

Hell once they amputate atleast you will never have to worry about missing in an arm ever again.
