Advice needed for choosing the right opiate

Hey guys,

Quick history: Used to do 300mg oxycontin a day for about a year, eventually got myself on methadone. Been about 8 months since I've done any non-methadone opioids, the last time I did my usual 300mg (80mg at a time, several hours apart) after skipping a day of methadone but it didn't really do much for me. I started on 40mg of methadone, tapered down to 20mg.

I've decided to take a week off of methadone and I will be able to procure either oxycontin or liquid morphine. I'd be doing the morphine orally. Never done morphine before, though I've tried heroin a few times and enjoyed it.

So I have a couple quick questions.

1. Since my methadone dose has halved, it stands to reason that my oxy dose would be reduced by 50% too (I figure I'd chew a 40 at a time). True?

2. I've read that (at least medically) 20mg oxycodone equals 30mg morphine, a ratio of 10:15. So if I wanted to maintain a sufficient 5-day high, I'd need to buy approximately 1.2 grams of morphine (150mg oxy dose times 5 days times 1.5 conversion to morphine). Does this sound about right?

3. My concern with taking oxycontin is that my body has now become used to morphine-based opioids, since I believe methadone is closer to morphine, unlike oxycodone which is based off codeine. I would hate to buy a bunch of oxycontin only to find that it doesn't really get me nodding . Am I right in assuming that morphine would kick me in the face a bit stronger, despite not being as euphoric as oxycodone (the general consensus, from what I can find).

This is a pretty self serving thread, so I'm going to move this to BDD or close it depending on what you want to do after I answer your questions.

1) There's no telling what your opiate tolerance is, as methadone is a full agonist opiate. Your oxy tolerance might have gone down, there's very little way of knowing for sure.

1.2 g's of morphine taken orally over a 5 day binge sounds about right BUT please keep it to one to two days, and space out your experiences. That way you won't get bad WD symptoms as much.

3) methadone is not morphine based. I would say oxycodone is closer to morphine than methadone is by the way. I'm not a chemistry major, just my 2 cents.

Just take a long time off methadone so your opiate tolerance drops down a bit and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I'd appreciate if you could move it over to BDD, you've been a tremendous help but I'd still like to gather a couple opinions when it comes to oxy addicts' opinion of morphine.


Also my plan is to enjoy a full week of morphine, and then use methadone and benzos to ease the WD's. Since I won't be taking methadone during those days, obviously, I'll be able to take a higher dose (or take the same dose more frequently) after the morphineweek. Plausible?

when you're doing oxy, your system gets a break at night time due to oxy's rapid clearance. with methadone you're opiated 24/7 so when people are put on methadone their tolerance goes higher. even tho 80mg was only holding you it was still raising your tolerance cause your body never gets a little sick while you sleep (which keeps the tolerance lower). So I would say that now you're down to 40mg your tolerance would still be higher than half the oxy dose you were on.

Opiates are opiates in my book.

If you want lower tolerance, you will have to obtain from them for a certain amount of time.
Too bad you don't loose tolerance as fast as you build it.

The thing with my situation, I don't care so much about tolerance in the sense of doing more. I'll buy as much as I need, really. It's more like... The person who does heroin for 10 years will not be able to get a good high with oxycontin, no matter how much they do, because their body is accustomed to a stronger type of opiate, right? I don't want to buy a bunch of oxys only to find that even at maximum dose it doesn't really work on me. I'm GUESSING morphine would be a more effective drug given the way my body has been accustomed to methadone - Is this true? I'm looking for user experiences that have gone back to oxy's after methadone vs morphine after methadone.

Not necessarily.

People can still get high on weaker opiates, just that way more of the less potent opiate is needed. There are opiate comparison charts all over the internet if you need help figuring out a dose of a weaker opiate to fill in in-between purchases.

I would have to ask what you are looking for out of the high? I mean if you stop taking your methadone you will be going to need to take something obviously or face W/D's. Now when asking what you are looking for I mean all opiates do the same general thing, but differ greatly in individual effects. I will assume though that you are looking for something with a bit of a kick that you were missing with the methadone.

Do you want to be more "up" or more "down"....it's kind of like choosing what kind of weed you want to smoke, as it's all weed, but dif. strains can have very dif. results.

If you are looking for more of an "up" high with some limited rushing I would say go with Oxycodone.

If you are looking for a more relaxed nod Heroin and Fent would be better

If you want a BANG then Dilaudid or Heroin would be best.

If you want a steady, sustained high Methadone or oral OC would be best.

If you like that warm pins and needles feeling morphine would be better...

Ya know it all really depends what you are looking for, once you find that then choose the appropriate opiate/opioid and convert the dosages to get an estimate of how much substance you will need for your little binge and you should be good to go...

Good to know that I might still be able to get the uppy productive buzz that comes along with oxy's. But yeah warm pins and needles sounds awesome.

I think I'll buy a good amount of both and alternate as needed =)
