Advice for alcohol use after meth addiction

Hey guys ill be brief - for 2months I've taken up gettin on the piss (bout 8-12 beers) a day after quitting regular meth use/addiction (pipe).

It started well but now the alcohol seems to make me fiend the shit like chronic unbearably, is this normal/expected? Will it eventually subside, any suggestions for alternatives? (Sobriety, weed or opiate use is not an option for me)

Sorry I don't understand. What are you craving: booze or meth?

Anyway 12 beers a day isn't good for you. If you could cut it down to six (or better, four), it would seriously be the best. Benzos are an option too when you want to get off alchy. A low dose of a long half-life benzo for like a month could help with the alcohol WDs.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply ill consider that if I feel my alcohol use comes out of control, but its the meth I am craving and I'm very scared about relapsing

Ah ok. Yeah that's more difficult to handle. Do you see a psychatrist/psychologist? They can help.

If its confusing ill sum it up like this: is alcohol use known to be a bad substitute specifically for past meth addiction?
Cheers

I see. I have had counselling during rehab for meth and I feel comfortable talking to my doctor only she doesn't know a lot bout substance abuse - ill consider having a discussion with her

Yes. Very bad substitute. A lot of opiates users end up in alcohol too. However, meth is as dangerous if not more than alcohol, nobody here will tell you to go back to meth.

If I had even one drink, I'd be on my phone ordering heroin and coke before the bartender brought me my second. This is the main reason I don't drink at all these days. It gets a lot more complicated once you've had a bad drug addiction, even if alcohol never was a problem for you.

Ok I might try out some benzos, probley hav to get a script. Any one in particular u would recommend?
This is off topic but does any activity you do on blue light appear on your Facebook?

Ask your doc, they surely will give you the right one. Be careful though, benzos are super addictive and WDs are the worst. Don't take them on the long term, not more than a month or two at most ;)

I think switching to some liquid beats instead of fuckin neurofunk could ease the paranoia haha...

Any success stories out there for arguments sake?

I drink, and i beat an opiate addiction, a gram of heroin a day. I`m super careful about it though, don`t let myself lose control or drink so much that ill want to use the next day to help ease hangovers. I just don`t like the aa theory that once im an addict to one thing the only option is total abstinence. I`m a firm believer in harm reduction, one reason why I love this site. Also the drug gabapentin helped me get off of opiates and its helped people stay clean from meth too. It acts on the gaba receptors in the brain. That ones sort of hard to kick too though but i managed to get off that one, one thing at a time I say.

Alcohol is terrible for the body & though benzos are safer, they can create a nasty addiction with potentially fatal w/ds.

I recommend you seek some sort of help for your addiction issues.

Sobriety might have to be an option at this point. If you want to avoid total abstinence and still want to avoid meth cravings, then I guess you could drink a few beers on the weekend...drinking 8-12 beers a day though? Come on, we all know that's addictive behavior. Even though it's beer, doing that much daily isn't good for your liver/other internal organs.

And also, just saying, but I think your problem is that neither sobriety NOR weed use are options. Those are also both the healthiest options you could go with at this point...get sober...or smoke a little weed...if you flat out won't pursue either of those options, I think that's your loss.

With alcoholism and meth addiction as your main two routes that you're contemplating though, I'd feel remiss if I didn't just say: maybe it's time to get sober...
