I'm wondering how many drug users here are adopted? I'm hoping to gather data for a study... and first I just wanna see how many of the current users fit the narrative and scope. I think this would be a great community to ask some more questions regarding these circumstances. I have a feeling the numbers are gonna be surprising.
If my suspicions are substantiated, I'd would love to follow up directly with you guys in DM's or whatever you feel comfortable with... as I'll be posting another POLL for a crude causation follow up, regarding socioeconomic details like approx. income, ethnicity, gender, private or public schooling.... Just some general guiding information, to which I'm thinking correlation should be defined rather clearly.
There is definitely causation and correlation from the limited studies that are available. But it doesn't seem to be an issue that's ever discussed and simply just left out. And I thought to myself... of all the questionnaires, surveys and consensuses in systems that I've been through(whether it's healthcare or judicial). I've NOT ONCE been asked if I'm adopted. Which I found ironic because it's been one of the largest deciding factors of how my life has turned out to this day. Specifically regarding drugs, physical/mental health and my overall assimilation into society and my Outlook for the future. I just don't think people really consider how significant the ratifications of it are. And simply put how much of it is drowned out by a bank account balance.
They've been a few studies, but only a handful and most of them out of the country. Nothing real comprehensive regarding these topics from what I've searched. They don't really address the socioeconomic statuses of these iindividuals. They seem to focus mostly on pre-existing conditions of alcoholism or addiction. And I think that we all are aware that it passed down, so that's not my focus. And although that is a rather large determining factor, I think equally important issues are the socioeconomic outcome of these individuals and how they assimilate into society
(I hope this is OK, as I don't want to cause any ripples in the community. I just really feel like this is something that's never talked about yet. Has a pretty significant impact on those encompasses and leaves an unmistakable footprint down the road)
So if you guys could help me out with this initial poll, I really appreciate it.
And to be clear I am Adopted.
