When you do a drug, and you feel this urge that you want to do it again, is that what makes up an addictive personality?
Or is it when you do a drug, and you feel this urge to want to do it again, and you DO it.
Because I get these urges, but am able to fight them off. So do I have an addictive personality?

Depends on the drug. Anyone who gets intense longterm cravings, though, has a little bit of an addictive personality atleast. It's not like you have one or you don't, there are varying degrees. Blah, just semantics really.
As for short-term cravings, I keep running to the fucking fridge to grab another Keebler's fudge cookie every hour :/

You have an addictive personality if you are more likely to become addicted to things (by defininition). Just keep taking drugs with your friends and you will know you have an addictive personality if you get addicted before them.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with having a wish to do them again. I get it with E. About 4 days afterwards I think "Damn, I really want to do them again!". Its understandable, they make you feel amazing and very happy.
Luckily my common sense (well, what little I have) keeps me from over doing it. Last time I dropped I had a chance to do it again 2 weeks later and although I really wanted to I didn't because I wanted to space them out a bit more.
If you can resist the urges then you are fine. If you cant, but you know you shouldn't then there is something wrong.

First of all, it's cool that you're asking. Most people have no idea what the definition of addictive personality is. Then they automatically decide they do NOT have it and use this as an excuse to go out and get high everyday saying things like "it's cool, I don't have an addictive personality, I'm not going to get hooked!" right out of their ass.
An addictive personality is a compulsive disorder. Although it applies directly to drug addiction, it can also be applied to eating disorders such as anorexia and bulemia and it can also apply to people with a gambling addiction.
I can give you a quick example of what an addictive personality is like. Back a few years ago, my friends and I would often party together. Do the same drugs, do the same amount of drugs. But that was it for them. They could party on the weekend and then go back and resume their normal lives. For me, drugs were my life. Drugs weren't just something fun I did in addition to work and school. I put drugs ahead of everything else and used them all the time and felt a need to be high.
As said above, there are different degrees of an addictive personality. Some people are worse than others. And until you've really become a full-blown drug addict, it's somewhat difficult to really gauge. Most drug users go through some period of heavy regular drug use.. what can make or break you is if you're the person trying things out for a month or two or three and can get over it and end the experimentation, or will the use just never seem to end and go on for months and years?
Also, the drugs used do not matter. First, I've got to say that the idea of seperating hard drugs versus soft drugs is ridiculous. Because if you have an addictive personality, it does not matter. When you have an addictive personality, you are hooked on getting high before you are hooked on the drug itself. Someone with an addictive personality can be entirely dependant on marijuana and smoke it several times a day every day for years.

^^^ i just wanted to say that you have fucking awesome replies in this forum
dayum!! :D
anyways-- soviet contin said it best-i couldn't possibly add anything more
unfortunetly i am one of those people with an addictive personality. i'm well-aware of my potential to overdo things, sometimes i try to stop myself before it gets too bad...but it always seems to overcome me

All I have to say is that these are some really good replies & you should listen to all of them. I myself have an addictive personality which I believe comes from my family members. But as long as you can control it it's ok. Addiction mostly occurs in weak minded people. It all depends on how mentally strong you are...

What I wanna know is...How mentally strong are you?
So I got a heroin habit. That means I'm weak minded? I don't think so. I'd like to hear your reasoning behind that statement. Cause I know some extemely weak-minded dumbfucks that don't have drug problems.

Okay, well time to post a longer reply in this thread. My reply before was somewhat sarcastic but also, I believe, correct so I will try to explain further.
First of all I consider it pretty much common sense that an addictive personality is one that upon exposure to addictive substances is more likely to become addicted. I presume the question asked is actually something like given my other personality characteristics and my subjective response to drugs can an estimate of the likelyhood of me to become addicted be calculated/how do these factors influence this estimate.
Certainly I believe such estimates can be made by third parties. Try to guess which one of your friends will become coke addicts you will probably do alot better than chance, add in statistical data and your estimate will probably be much better. However, you are kinda restricted from properly estimating your own addictiveness (unless it is at an extreme end). I mean if you were to determine you did not have an addictive personality undoubtedly you would worry less about addiction making you in fact more likely to become addicted. In other words your estimate of the addictiveness of your own personality is part of your personality that must be taken into acount if you are trying to properly make this estimate.
Now I don't really understand this entier "weak minded" thing. What is it exactly that makes a person weak minded? Society in general disapproves of drug use so does this not make any drug user strong minded in some sense? Nearly no one rationally weighs the risks and benifits of drug use and reaches a rational conclusion about whether they should continue drug use (if even such a thing can be done before experiencing the drug). Does listening to mommy and daddies prejudices rather than the lure of the drug make one strong or weak minded? Do such distinctions even make sense?
Now the issue gets even more complicated when you try to seperate use from addiction. Certainly there are many things you would not choose to stop doing even with fairly large incentives (wacking off, having sex, losing your friends, acting like a respectable member of the circles you travel in) but would not normally qualify as an addiction. When does use of a chemical substance change from a choice to use (i.e. you prefer to continue using to the alternitives such as withdrawl etc..) to an addiction? If this is only when you realize you would be better off not using but continue to use anyway it does require a certain weak mindedness almost by definition but it is not clear this is greater than the person who just doesn't realize that drug use is bad for them or the person who thinks they are weak minded so is extremely careful about using.
Certainly it is not fair to extrapolate from use (even from tolerance/dependence) to addiction. Also clearly not everyone who develops an addiction even in the above restricted sense is going to be weak minded.
About what you say soviet. It is not clear to me most people don't think about whether they have an addictive personality in relation to drugs. Rather I think it probable that the vast majority of addicts are people who thought they did not have one because (as I was saying above) all the people who decided they did have an addictive personality (wrongly in fact) are less likely to become addicted due to this consideration. Moreover it is not clear that an addictive personality is simply a compulsive disorder, some people seem to have honestly differnt brain chemistry and get differnt rewards from the same chemicals.
In short I don't really think most of the question/responses about this issue even really have much meaning when you start asking what the words in the sentences are really meant to refer to.

quale: that looks like it was taken out of the narcotics anonymous book or something, good reply. i don't think an addictive personality can be defined, it's not a black and white subject, there's a grey area.
