He's using Codeine to taper down & lessen the intensity of the withdrawals.

i looked it up i cant find anything on it...i live in the US

Ah I see. It would be worth asking your Dr. about it.
I couldn't find anything either, other than on it's Wiki page, that said:
In many European countries and elsewhere in the world, the most commonly-found dihydrocodeine preparations are extended-release tablets made by encasing granules of the ingredient mixture, almost always using the bitartrate salt of dihydrocodeine, of four different sizes in a wax-based binder.

So I'm not sure if "elsewhere in the world" applies to the US, but it would most definitely be worth checking it out :)

i got #42 30mg codiene for the week (prescribed)...plus other shit i got liiike.. 2mgs suboxone left over, plus 2 100mg ultrams...wht u think i should do

today, mental dependancy seems to be at its greatest, sucks, no wihtdrawls yet, i guess the sub is still in effect for a few wmore hours

i took the sub yesterday at around 12noon...its now past 7am, i feel minor WDs, when do u think i should/can dose again, or shou8old i just wait for the WDs to be worse

I'd say wait for most of the withdrawals to kick in, then take a dose that's just enough to get rid of them.

I agree with monstanoodle: you should wait until you're as sick as you can take it, and then take your opiates. This will prevent tolerance from building to the codeine, or at least slow it down, and it will also make it a lot easier for you to come off the opiates.

I've done self tapering 6 times, Suboxone tapering 1 time, cold turkey 4 times, and doctor-supervised opiate-tapering 2 times. Needless to say, I've "been there, done that" when it comes to getting off opiates. Unfortunately, I average about 2 weeks clean, and then something really good comes around (Opana IR 10mg tablets for $5, Duragesic 100mcg/hr patches for $15, some super-high-quality dope, Dilaudid 4mg for $5, #30 Norco 10/325mg for $40, etc), and I relapse.

I HAVE been clean for TWO MONTHS though, without any relapsing, and the mental cravings went down slowly, but they never truly go away. You will always have, in the back of your mind, the thought of "man, this would be SO much better if I had some oxy/morphine/codeine/hydro/fent/etc.".

If you can get rid of those mental cravings, then you are quite strong in the head. But in the meantime, there are ways to avoid relapsing and tough it through.

I would advise the use of the following supplements/OTC-medications:

SUPPLEMENTS:
- Loperamide (Imodium): 4-8mg 3-5x/day, not a supplement but it's so good it goes first! It will help with the diarrhea a LOT, and it will also help with the body cramps, stomach problems, and the mental "fog". It really, really does help, and I can't recommend it enough!
- Fish Oil (Omega 3,6,9): 1-2 capsules 2x/day, get the "maximum strength" or "double potency" ones, as they contain two time as much DHA and EPA, which are the "goodies" that you want. This will help with restoring mental function and reducing cravings, as well as increasing motivation and attention-span.
- Magnesium Oxide (MagOX): 500mg 1x/day will do. This helps with muscle cramps, the "bone pain", and is an NMDA-receptor agonist, so it will help you relax slightly. It's cheap, and most people are deficient in magnesium, so d yourself a favor and get a bottle.
- B-Complex w/ Folic Acid (time released): 1 tablet in the morning will do you good. You want the time release because B-Vitamins are water-soluble and you will absorb a lot more if you have 8 hours to take them in as opposed to 2-3. This will help with getting your body healthy again and giving you some energy.
- Acetyl-L-Carnitine w/ Alpha Lipoic Acid (you need the combo-product): 1 tablet 2x/day is enough. This will help a lot with getting rid of the mental fog you get from withdrawals. It also enhances memory and other cognitive functions. Alpha Lipoic Acid is also an incredibly strong anti-oxidant, so it's definitely some good stuff.
- CoQ-10: 100mg 1x/day. This is used by the body for energy production and is also essential in maintaining a healthy heart. It's a "protective" supplement, and one that everyone should take.
- Soy Lecithin: 1200mg 2-3x/day. It provides your body with a good healthy source of choline, which is utilized by a lot of other supplements to keep them doing their job, as well as being used by the brain to turn the choline into acetylcholine, which is essential in cognitive functions and memory.
- L-Tyrosine: 500mg 2x/day. The precursor to Dopamine, this will help your body restore its neurotransmitter reserves, which you depleted by abusing opiates. It will give you some energy, but doesn't have the "crash and burn" feeling of "uppers" when it wears off; very natural feeling.
- 5-HTP: 100mg 1x/day at bedtime. Helps your body to restore its serotonin supply, and will serve as somewhat of an antidepressant. It works for some, and not for others, but give it at least 2 weeks before you decide either way.
- DMAE: 100mg 2x/day. Increases the effect of almost anything, as it allows more drugs/supplements/amino-acids/whatever to cross the blood-brain-barrier. It's also a nootropic, and you will notice heightened senses: lights will seem a little brighter, the sun will shine a little prettier, and you will just be happier. My favorite supplement.

DRUGS/MEDICATIONS:
- Lyrica: 150mg 2-3x/day. This will help with the aches and pain, as you're truly having neuropathic pain when you're withdrawing. It also will give you somewhat of a "dissociated" feel, and you will be a lot more comfortable. Taking 150-300mg before bed and you will actually be able to sleep through the night.
- Carisoprodol (Soma): 350-700mg 2-4x/day. A muscle relaxant that actually works, it will keep you comfortable and help you to move and sleep in a more normal fashion.
- Ibuprofen: 400-800mg 3-4x/day. An NSAID that will help with the aches and pains, although it may upset your stomach some. Start with the lower dose and then go up, to keep your stomach from going berserk.
- Diphenhydramine (Benadryl): 25-50mg 2x/day during the day, and possibly 50-100mg before bed to sleep. It will help keep you relaxed, as it has some anxiolytic properties, and taking enough (not more than 150mg!!) will help knock you out. You might have a little hangover though.
- Benzodiazepines: Listed below are the "good" ones, but you really, really don't want to get addicted to these.
- Klonopin (clonazepam): .5-1.0mg 2-3x/day. This is the best if you want to stay somewhat alert and aware of what's going on. It also is less likely than the others to cause black-outs. I take 3mg everyday, and my psychiatrist told me I could pick whatever I wanted. It works very, very well, and lasts a good long time.
- Xanax (alprazolam): .5-1.0mg 3-4x/day. Shorter duration means taking more pills, and this benzo has a tendency to cause erratic behavior, black-outs, amnesia, and paradoxical reactions wherein the user becomes violent and aggressive. However, it does do its job: anxiolytic. You have NO worries when you take enough of this stuff, hence the addictive nature.
- Valium (diazepam): 10-30mg 2-4x/day. Long acting, like Klonopin, but is more of a "coucher" as it has muscle-relaxant and sedative/hypnotic properties. This CAN cause black-outs and amnesia if you take too much, so start low and work your way up slowly (start with 10mg TID, and don't take more than 30mg BID). Good for sleep, too, if you take ~20mg 30-60min before bed.
- Halcion (triazolam): .25-1.0mg before bed. This is a sedative/hypnotic with a super-short half-life, but is very potent when it is working; the strongest benzo by weight. I've seen people absolutely faded from 1mg of this, and it will knock you out if you lay down in a bed.

Avoid taking opiates, and yes, you CAN do it! The above is not a complete list, but if you want to know more or have questions about what other supplements or meds I recommend, just ask and I'll let you know. You can beat this.

The L-Tyrosine and Imodium are my two personal faves for going through a w/d to get off stuff. I however didn't know about most of the other things posted.

I don't know how effective dosing suboxone (a slow acting opiate) and then anything else like hydro, a fast acting opiate. I would get as much suboxone as I could and save it up. Wait until i'm tapered down as much as possible and THEN start the suboxone. Thats what worked for me personally. The transition from fast acting opiates to slow ones like suboxone is a little foggy at first, but you won't be feeling like shit.

Keep us updated!
