Opioids Addicted to Hydrocodone?

So I just started doing Hydro in the past week probably. It's the first actual drug I've done steadily besides weed, so I don't know about addiction.

How bad could I get addicted?
How hard are the withdrawals if I do get addicted?

I've been a huge stoner the past year or so and I've snorted a couple percosets but this is the first time I've done any kind of pill more than a few times. I get a REALLY GOOD deal on them so I can see myself on them for a while.

Also, they get me high and all but sometime I want to just be really fucked up. What can I do to get that?

Horribly addicted to the point of ruining everyones life around you who loves you and your own life. I worked up a debt of 50,000k, got fired from a 90,000 job for stealing to support my addiction. My girlfriend of two years left me and I had to move back in with my parents and face the music off addiction and withdrawals.

The withdrawals are murder. They last for days on top of days ontop of days then for weeks and weeks and months after getting passed not sleeping for a week, shitting on yourself, puking, body twitching nonstop at night as soon as you try to be still, fever, sweats, chills, bad bone pain, horrrrrriiiid depression, zero energy or motivation. A lot of people give up and just say fuck it put me on ORT(opiod replacement therapy-Done, Bupe).

Please please please please read as much as you can about addiction and withdrawals be fore you aquire a taste for opiods/opiates.

Know what your up against.

Also this is a harm reduction board about safe use. Not to me people are going to tell you how to "faded", it's self serving.

If you need any info regarding safety, addiction, wellness you have some great great members here, but none will tell you to get faded.

Welcome to BL!

Well hydrocodone itself is not a very strong opiate. Which is the problem right there. The nice euphoric high you might get to start will slowly get harder to achieve. You'll chase it by CWEing a lot of pills to get a high enough dose to get your high. And eventually you'll probably move on to a more powerful drug like oxy.

Obviously the route people take is decided by themselves. Maybe you will stick with a lower dose of hydro that just keeps you feeling happy. Or maybe you'll end up snorting lots of oxy after a while.

None of us know what will happen to you. The withdrawals can be pretty bad, but survivable if you have the willpower to go through it. (and prepare for it).

Be smart and be safe.

Thanks guys
I think I'm going to just stick with the low does and then stop when they stop doing it for me
When I started I never really thought of getting addicted but it's kind of scaring me now

Anytime! If you need help and questions about drug interactions, this is a great place to read and learn.

Stay safe, and enjoy your life!

first off... NEVER snort percocet-- that is the dumbest most waistfull and harmful thing in the world... it has 500mg of tylenol in it.. which kills your nose and has no effect.... just eat it.

secondly.. yes you can get addicted to hydrocodone.. I am an avid oxy user and it all started with a hydro addction..... 4 a day, then 6, then 8, then 10, then 15... then on to Percs... then on to Roxi... Then on to OC80s

its not a good path-- if you can steer yourself off of it do it NOW

Get away from the stuff while you still can, if you find that you really enjoy the high just do them every so often like no more than once every two weeks, avoid the tolerance and do not abuse them(take more than you need to get high). I don't post much around here but I can tell you that its a bad road to go down, and leads no where good. I took my first opiate pill back in HS, followed them for a while, which lead to heroin years later. I just couldn't take the pain of withdrawal so I finally went on bupe, which I have been on for over two years now.

It doesn't sound like your absolutely in love with the opiate euphoria, and more of that you just want to get messed up, and are getting these pills cheap. Stay away from them, once your in, your most likely going to be in for life, or the majority of it...

I use them once a week and still get euphoria off of 15mg. Been doing them about 12 years now, so it can be done. Just keep yourself in check and take breaks every once in a while. Good luck!

I am going to echo what many others have said here, don't get started down this road with Hydrocodone, it will lead to addiction and as bad as the physical withdrawals are, the mental withdrawals are worse. I was once right where you are, had plenty of Hydro and promised myself I would keep my doses low and spread out to avoid addiction. I had lots of willpower so for awhile I really did that. I kept my addiction to a minimum, then life went crazy and as a result my addiction spiraled out of control. In the end I traded in that small hydro habit for a worse addiction and am now getting clean completely from opiates.

The addiction to Hydrocodone is bad enough, but what is worse is that it is often a gateway drug and before you know it you are taking either crazy amounts of hydro or are moving on to a stronger drug. I can tell you its not worth it. I loved hydrocodone. At first I loved what it did for my life and how it made me a social and happier person. In many ways I still love them but if I could go back in time and change anything, it would be taking that first pill.

Above all be safe. If you start taking more of these or combining them with any other pills, please do your research and read up on threads here so you know the dangers. Take care!

Yes it can be done like this poster stated but keep everything in moderation.

Lostboys: Do you work for a pharmaceutical company? Lol I'm just kidding but you're remaining incredibly steadfast on this opinion even in the face of adversity. I'm not trying to be a douche or anything. You just have to understand that I find the principle behind what you're saying to be just totally unethical and irresponsible. Someone might actually read your advice and take it seriously and make their lives exponentially worse. And at this point it seems you're preaching it to people without provocation. I apologize for engaging you in cyber warfare over this topic, but it's something I feel very strongly about. Most other people do to.

OP, you can get addicted to hydrocodone, hell you can even get addicted to codeine. Taking these substances days in a row will most likely precipitate withdrawals however minor they may be. You don't here about as many people becoming addicted to hydrocodone as you do oxycodone, or heroin or what have you. I don't know exactly why this is, I can only theorize. For instance hydro doesn't come in large dose, extended release pills like oxycodone does. And it's almost always bound to apap or a similar substance. I would say realistically, you're biggest worry would be developing a large hydro habit and then progressing on to stronger opiates. Opiates are extremely hard to keep in moderation. Personal experience and even a vague knowledge of world history (opium wars anybody?) illustrate this point clearly. To answer your question though, it is very possible and it does happen. All I can say is don't use multiple days in a row if you don't want to get addicted, or you can expect to experience some type of withdrawal. This is heavily dependent on your dose though, which I'm curious to know

To answer your second question. You just take more, for higher dosages a cwe is essential

Having been on hydrocodone for a year, I would usually run out before my new script was due and would be fine till I got it. A month ago, I experienced my first bout with withdrawal after not taking hydro for about a day. Every time since, if I stop dosing 2x a day I have experienced withdrawals. Because of this I have been weening myself off, and am down to about 3 pills a day...soon to taper to two...and so on and so forth till I'm off them for good.

So far so good. I'm obviously not getting high at this dose, but I feel good and thats better than withdrawing.

You could get severley addicted; much more so than weed.

I would be careful.

One safe method that is suggested on erowid.org is to skip days, like do not take the drug in two consecutive days in a row.
For example: If you take hydrocodone on MONDAY, dont take it on TUESDAY, take it on WEDNESDAY.

Also, they get me high and all but sometime I want to just be really fucked up. What can I do to get that?

If you want to get a lot higher, I would suggest oxycodone. Look for the 80mg pills and you can snort like one fifth of the pill and feel way better than hydrocodone orally. They are rather expensive though, ranging anywhere from $25(really cheap) to $80 (rare).

Usually they are around 40-45$ in my area.

I too started with Vicodin and worked my way up the ladder. I even stuck with only Vicodin for several years, but eventually it wasn't cutting it, and I moved on to more potent Opioids. There are some definitely some great highs, but there are some relentlessly low low's as well.

It's pretty easy to say you will stop, but when the time comes, will you? Food for thought.

The only addiction I have ever had is nicotine, but it relates in some ways to your situation. [Please don't flame me, I know how this sounds but bear with me.]

I started and at the time I was 17. Me and my friend would buy a black and mild or something after school and I would be fine. But one day he got caught smoking in my truck in the parking lot and as they searched my truck for tobacco products, they found my vape with barely less than a half ounce in it.

I was kicked out, and got my second posession charge of the month. I knew my college resume was fucked, and my mild addiction became my only path to relaxation. //Note that tobacco, like hydro, is a very unsatisfying drug in itself, and the dosage to make you feel better about something like this is almost unachievable//
And like your situation, it was extremely readily available. My parents would put out their cigarettes way too early and I would half an ashy full of shorts and aces. I got pathetic. I would smoke the tip of the filter for the tobacco resin. And after all was said and done, I couldn't go a day without smoking like I had planned when my piss tests etc were done.
The psycolohical part of addiction is the worst. Every time you see some small pill shaped item, see a tylenol [TAKE a tylenol], you will be reminded of it. A pill is a terrible thing to be addicted to. In my case I would see people smoking so it is a hard thing not to be reminded of.
The only way I could kick my addiction was to start off by riding with my aggravating father from North Carolina to Texas for 2 days without a smoke and the cravings faded to the point where I could barely control it. But hydro isn't something you can ignore a couple of days and stop IMFE.

I hate to sound like my telling a success story or something, but I always saw kids trying to get a pack of cigs and was amazed that it sucked that badly to be addicted to something and here kids who didn't suffer and addiction were trying to get it, and yet I didn't correct them because they didn't ask for my opinion, obviously.

But please just don't get into it. One day your dealer will stop selling and other drugs will cross your mind. And even worse, people are always terrible about overestimating their willpower over things like this. And if you wonder how many you take to get messed up, then I guarantee you are especially one of these people, like me.

I know I can lead a horse to water, but I can't make him drink it. I hope you are wise.

I woke up this morning and experience my first withdrawals .
They were really slight and went away after a few hours but the mental part got to me.
I think I'm going to just make sure I don't do it consecutively, or just a couple times a week.
I'm also talking to a girl and if we get serious I'm going to kick it all so I can focus on her.

And to the person who asked about my dosage, I've been snorting 10's once a day.

STOP snorting them if you're snorting all the tylenol too. Seriously your nose will be so fucked in so quick. Also the oral BA is a fair amount higher if I remember right, this snorting thing is just a mental thing(people around here need to smoke or snort EVERYTHING, I don't get it, they're so retarded, and it leads to everybody else doing it).
Take them on an empty stomach, they'll work better that way and won't damage your nose...

Also tolerance and WD CAN come from use that isn't daily. Not sure how bad it is with hydro but it can get bad from some opiates..

I can't for the life of me understand why people snort pills with a shit ton of apap in them. That is just bad news and a bad idea in general.

I guess people think they'll get a better BA or that the idea of snorting makes them think they're a cool drug user. Time to watch miami vice!

It's just not smart.
