I am having difficulty with my Adderall XR medication working...it worked great right at first and then suddenly stopped. At about the same time, I went on a diet (needed to and though a good time to take advantage of the appetite suppressant effects of the med).
This new diet is very HIGH in fruits (obviously containing citric acid). I've read somewhere that citric acid can have an impact on the effectiveness of Adderall XR (but I've never heard of it affecting regualar Adderall). It must affect the time-release beads or something.
Anyone know anything about this? I've looked all over the net and this site and I'm having trouble finding where I read that. I want to be able to cite some research to have my doctor switch me to regular Adderall instead of XR.
He does not know that much about Adderall (usually writes ADD patients scripts for Ritalin), but knows me well and I told him that I have tried both Adderall and Ritalin (unprescribed) and that Adderall worked best for me. He wrote me then and there for Adderall XR...pretty nice doc, huh?
