Stimulants Adderall XR, 2nd dose release

Hello everyone. I tried using the search, and it gave me about 20 pages of results. So here's my question...

I'm aware that Adderall XR releases the second dose about 4 hours in. Is it generally possible to tell when the second dose has released? I took 45 mg almost exactly 3 and 1/2 hours ago. First time I've taken it in a number of months. I absolutely LOVE amphetamine. Everything about it is just so... yes. I love the productivity, sociability, reduced need for sleep (just missing out on life when you're sleeping). With that being said though, the comedown is so horrible, just because you go from feeling on top of the universe back to *shudders* normalcy. I'm still feeling pretty nice. Left leg is bouncing non-stop as I'm typing this. However, the euphoria has subsided quite a bit. I was just wondering if any noticeable difference in mental state is had when the second dose is released?

Ug, nothing should be allowed to be this great. Guess I should just be happy I don't have a script for it, lest I be posting on here 20 pounds lighter, watching out for the shadow people.
 
Definitely not a doctor but i know Adderall very well. I'm pretty sure that isn't how it works… When you take an extended release drug it's purpose is to release a steady amount of the chemical of a certain period of time which in Adderall XR's case is 12 hours max. When you take Adderall XR orally you will feel a come up and a steady high (dose dependent) then the infamous comedown. Im almost positive that Adderall XR is not released in two stages. With decent knowledge in pharmacology and organic chemistry I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around a pill filled with beads releasing in two stages. The only theory i have for this is that there are two different kind of beads made with different cutting agents that speed up or slow down the absorption rate after the capsule is dissolved in the stomach. However, I've cracked open every brand name Adderall XR pill there is and i know that theory i just presented isn't whats inside the Adderall. Tl;DR No Adderall XR is a steady release over around 12 hours there is no second stage.
 
I don't know.. everything I've read says that's how it works. I'm pretty sure via the mechanism which you stated above. Beads being coated in two different cutting agents, one of which dissolves instantly, the other dissolving over a longer period of time. I could be wrong myself, but nearly everything I've read points to the second half being released +/- 4 hours later.
 
I trust you and your research and conclude that if there is a second stage then the enactment of said stage is unnoticeable and appears to the user as a steady high.
 
Yeah, that's pretty much how it went about it. The initial euphoria, followed by energy, and restlessness. Leg still bouncing. Wishing I had something productive to do. Popped another 25 almost an hour ago (51 minutes), bringing the grand total for the night to 70mg. Got a little bit of stomach queasiness after the last one, along with a bit of nervousness (due to the dose being so high. First time taking this much), but both of those have calmed down significantly. Just more restlessness and energy. Euphoria has subsided, and will until the next time I take some after a period of sobriety, I suppose.
 
From personal experience and what I have read, XR is realeased in 2, roughly 4 hour apart, doses. When I take it I definitely can feel the 'wave' of the second dose.

That being said, today is not one of those Adderall days and I don't care to ramble on much more about my personal experiences with it.
 
It just occurred to me that though I use adderall I rarely chose an oral ROA it's usually insufflation that I use it. Often times I'll insufflate the first 30 or so mg then take another 30mg orally. Perhaps this is why I've never felt the second wave after the first four hours.
