Adderall, will conflict with losartan? Also other questions

Hello Bluelight, I'm new. Judging by lurking, general use adderall seems to be kind of popular here. I recently experimented with adderall, took 25mg, and went to work on some math assignments. It has a very nice effect, I was much more concentrated than I had ever been. However, after reading some general articles on amphetamines, and adderall I have some concerns, and general things I'd like to ask about.

I have high blood pressure that I take medication for. Currently on 100mg of losartan per day. Is there any chance that adderall, and my blood pressure meds could conflict or experience drug-drug reactions? Frequency is also something i'd like to ask about. I have no plans to take the drug daily, but I have little knowledge of how fast tolerance builds up. Would the effect diminish if I were to do 25mg once per week? Should I lower the dose? 25mg gave a really potent effect, granted it was first time. How long do up periods tend to last with adderall in that kind of dosage? Would timing it such that when the drug's effect wears off I want to sleep be ideal?

You should not be taking adderall if you suffer from any form of heart disease. The adderall will negate the effects of your ARB. All stimulants are high risk medications for those who suffer cardiac dysfunction.

This resource says there is no interaction. That doesn't mean there won't be an interaction, however. Hopefully some other posters will be able to chime in - I have no experience with blood pressure medication - but as Chromophobia mentions, use of stimulants if you have heard disease is dangerous. Did you get prescribed Adderall by a doctor that's aware of your heart disease?

If you take 25mg instant release Adderall in the morning you shouldn't have a problem sleeping that evening. However, there are also extended release formulations (XR) that last a bit longer. Don't take 25mg in the mid-late afternoon or evening and plan on sleeping that night. 25mg is a lot for your first time. I would start with 10-15mg or maybe even 20 but 25 may be a waste. Have you ever taken amphetamines before?

thanks for the replies, guys. The nature of my high blood pressure doesnt really lie in my heart. It's a pretty atypical condition, caused by overproduction of some hormone by my kidneys. Basically my heart is 100% healthy in every sense, but it's just kind of overworked, which is rectified by the medication. My pulse is fine, unfortunately I have no means of taking my blood pressure right now though. If my pulse is fine, and my BP is fine, is there any other way the drug could affect my heart? I dont have the drug prescribed right now, but I like its effect, and will definitely talk to my doctor about it if I intend to go that way.

First time trying an amphetamine btw

Amphetamines speed up your heart. If your heart is already stressed it is best to be very careful with amphetamines (all stimulants in fact, including caffeine).

If its your first time, 25mg is certainly too much. Less is more with amphetamines. The higher dose you take, the more likely you're going to get side effects. The first few times you take amphetamines will be the best times as well. Don't take high doses trying to catch that original euphoric rush.

definitely, thanks for the advice, ill be using these kinds of things sparingly.

Are there steps I can take to keep tolerance low, or just infrequency of usage?

Infrequency of usage is the best way to keep tolerance down. Also make sure you're using lower doses. If you use high doses, even infrequently, your tolerance will still go up faster compared to if you use lower doses. The longer you wait between one use of amphetamine and the next use the lower your tolerance will be, and the less negative side effects you will experience.

Amphetamines aren't for everybody though.
