Adderall tolerance question, also on subutex.

I feel like I just wandered into a 6 building complex, each 5 stories high, and I'm blind. Ummmm, I will just yell out a question, and see if somebody walks out of a door and is nice. Or comes out and tells me to get the heck out of here! I am currently taking Subutex 4mg. per day, for opiate addiction treatment. I was on suboxone, but the doc switched me to the subutex, as it's cheaper. I also take clonidine, adderall, gabapentin, as add-ons, to help with the depression I dealt with when I was put on suboxone. My question is I'm having problems with tolerance with the Adderall, as that seems to be the one that helps me feel better, energy, etc. I'm currently on 20mg. a day, the oval pink kind, and I split in in 4, and take every 4-5 hours. I'm wondering if I should try to get the doc to give me a bump up in dose, or does anyone have any alternative ideas? Again, sorry if I'm not doing this right. I'd appreciate help in knowing where I should be posting or whatever.

Well IMO I'd probably try to get your dose down a bit, it sounds like you could be expecting more out of the meds than they are going to provide. Adderall isn't going to provide a boost of energy forever, and bumping up the dose is only going to temporarily work. A better long term solution may be to try to not take amphetamine daily and only use on days you really want the boost. Ask any amphetamine user how much taking a day off here and there helps, and I think you'll hear overwhelmingly that taking days off will substantially increase the effects you get. Concerning bupe and depression, there is a lot of discusion around this forum of people taking smaller doses to avoid the worse side effects of suboxone/ subutex. Buprenorphine is much stronger than you would imagine in terms of how much is necessary for effects. Doses of over 2mg give many people much more unpleasant side effects than doses of 2mg or less. Before Suboxone and Subutex came out, buprenorphine was prescribed in 0.1 and 0.2mg preparations for pain, just to give you an idea of the potency. Higher doses are given to discourage using other opiates, which it does, but at the expense of feeling less good effects and more bad effects.

Anyway, food for thought. It may not seem reasonable that less drugs will give better effects, but it's true in a lot of cases, especially with everyday use of amphetamine or high doses of buprenorphine.

Alternatively, you can also go to the forums page which has a short description of what each forum is. Most of them are pretty self explanatory, and if you do happen to post in the wrong one, like here, in most cases the mods of the forum will be happy to move it for you. :) If you have any questions, feel free to PM (private message) any of us!
