Ok so for the last month Ive been feeling like hell. I have really bad insomnia and its normal to not get any sleep one or two nights a week. Even did 3 a couple times, may have snuck in an hour or two of sleep.

Anyways. a month ago I was having sleeping problems and withdrawing so I got sick as I said. The past 3days not counting today, I have taken at least 220-240mg of adderall, i had a decent tolerance but before that hadnt done it in over a week. Yesterday I did around 150mg, but i read several places that it only affects blood pressure/heart rate for up to 12 hrs, these are IR. Ive only done 15mg today so in last 12 hours, only 15mg.

So I went to the ER today because of being sick and sleep deprived. Ive also been getting strange, yet mostly mild audio and visual hallucinations since I tried going to sleep around 2 last night. They said I had bronchitis and the cough, chest pain, high blood pressure, headaches and nasal sinus congestion was due to it. These are all side effects of adderall overdose as well though. Am I just being paranoid because I havent slept for 4 days? Or could I be having an overdose? Im pretty sure Im just freaking myself out and once I get a long 12 hour sleep ill be feeling better.

Thanks for any quick replies!

You are suffering from amphetamine psychosis. It's a normal reaction for people to have after staying awake for a long time and/or taking high doses of amphetamines. It's not an overdose, by most definitions, but a result of prolonged high doses of amphetamines mixed with lack of sleep.

Get some sleep and you'll feel a lot better. Make sure you're getting fluids and eating food. Vitamins will help a lot too, but, in the end, what you need is to stop taking amphetamines for a while and get a good nights' rest (or a few nights' rest).

Well I have had mild hallucinations without taking adderall before and not sleeping for 2 or 3 nights. seeing things out of the corner of my eyes, shadows, light music playing for a second or someone calling my name far away. Sure its not just from not sleeping for 4 nights? Im sure the adderall doesnt help, but they say the 4th night of no sleep is when you can really start hallucinating.

Also i believe ive had it happen a couple times because of addies too and i was fine before, im just more panicky and anxious now because i cant and havent gotten sleep. So Ill be good right? Just dont take anymore and sleep asap?

Yes, the same reaction you had when you stayed awake for two or three nights...you'd have after staying awake for four nights. It's amphetamine psychosis either way.

Correct. If you stop taking amphetamines and get some sleep, things will return to normal.

Unless you suddenly became hypersensitive/allergic to Adderall suddenly
I'd say its the psychosis that onsets typically sometime between hour 72 and 96 if up continuously (acute sleep deprivation)

I should know... I've been up for a total of 50 hours so far...

Amphetamine psychosis isn't dependent entirely upon how long you've stayed awake for. Taking a huge dose of amphetamines at once can send you into amphetamine psychosis even if you slept the night before. There are many factors involved. Sometimes people with pre-existing psychiatric issues can be sent right into psychosis with a small dose of amphetamines.

The OP certainly has the beginnings of amphetamine psychosis (which is due to both exposure to high doses of amphetamines and sleep deprivation).

Im with ya there. If Im awake one night, Im always awake the next. And thats at least every week. Well thanks you calmed me down a bit, still cant sleep though but I feel tired as hell. So it can would be safe to take 1 or 2 tylenol pm in the next 2 or 3 hours in order to fall asleep if I cant on my own, right?

Right, Im just saying Ive stayed awake for three or four nights before without taking any stimulant just because Im a huge insomniac and still had these hallucinations Im having now. The adderall just helps enhance that way higher correct?

Yes, it is completely and totally safe to take one or two Tylenol PMs (the active ingredient is diphenhydramine) later on to help you sleep. I wouldn't take any more than two, however.

Exactly. Hallunications/delusions, etc can happen as a result of regular old sleep deprivation. Amphetamines such as Adderall just make it a lot more likely that you'll stay awake, and their actions on dopamine make it worse. If you've got insomnia and you're taking that high of a dose of amphetamines, you're more or less bound to have amphetamine psychosis, or, at the very least, worse insomnia.

Yeah me and my dumb mental illness and drug problems. Well no ones perfect right, I just go way too far once I start. Thanks for all the answers. Just one more thing would it be okay to take those tylenol pm if I cannot sleep on my own tonight? I cant handle another night of sleeplessness I feel like Im going insane...

EDIT: Sorry didnt see you said it should be okay, I usually do it everytime I have these bouts of sleeplessness' anyways. Ok thanks for your help.

No judgements here my friend, we've all got our vices... just telling ya the facts. :)

Wasnt saying you were judging, we're all here at Bluelight for a reason. I was just agreeing, it is my fault for the most part. I'll learn one of these days....Hopefully.

It did sound like I was being an ass, sorry. I was really just trying to admit, yeah Im an idiot.

Good post very true.

I've taken adderall, caught a few hours of sleep took some more the next day and was slipping into a psychosis. It really does factor in more than just not sleeping. And as everyone has said its some psychosis which comes with a full side of "Oh my gosh is this what's wrong with me, do I have this," ect aka: paranoia. What's always en encouraging thought to me is "I'll be back to normal". Ha it's hard to be positive in a comedown but it use to help me.

Take care of yourself the next couple days and you'll be great :) And don't even sweat about the going to far thing. It's not good but hey I say better adderall than methamphetamine. Alot of us have been there and part of being low on the dopamine is regretting it lol.

Yo dawg, leme hijack this thread right hurr
So lemme get this str8, ya digg

I like... didn't care I was diagnosed with acute insomnia I guess... when I tried this meth mk

So right now... Let me tell you how GREAT this is...
I'm paranoid
I still can't sleep
I'm in a constant state of panic
Along with some Anxiety sprinkles on top

Symptoms 1, 3, and 4 are being combated (yes combated) by the Meth's lingering effects

As soon as that Meth wears off...

I can look forward to those symptoms to double
I can look forward to my ADD getting 10x worse
and begging for a 16 hour "nap"

How was this valuable to this thread's original poster?
I'm on methamphetamine, and I'm sleep deprived, just like OP is
I'm paranoid, just like OP is
I could slip into amphetamine psychosis anytime really, just like OP is

So OP needs to realize, if you're gonna stay up for days at a time on amphetamines... you better get that psychosis differentiated from reality!
(which is like me telling you: "Your left hand isn't real")

I had some more advice, but my memory is getting screwed at the moment
