Hi all! I have recently been diagnosed with ADD, and I am trying to figure some things out, with no luck.. so, I figured I would try you nice people
A little background: I struggle with depression sometimes, and because of this have been put through the ringer with all kinds of meds in years past. I am CONVINCED that the last doc I saw for it was insane. I'm pretty sure she needed those meds more than I did. With that being said, I quit taking any and everything I was prescribed for about 2 years, and have found that my depression is much better handled without the use of these medications.
Now... fast forward 2 years and the only issues that I struggle with are my focus and social 'awkwardness' I guess you could say? That and the fact that I really struggle to do anything that doesn't seem to be something I enjoy. Which can really affect my family life as a wife and mother.
I went to a new doctor and explained all this to him and was prescribed 20mg of adderall 2x a day... we did try Ritalin first but I didn't see any results except for a very severe stomachache. Since being on the adderall for 2 months, for the past 2 weeks my blood pressure and heart rate have jumped up significantly higher. My resting heart rate tends to be anywhere from 110-120, and yesterday my BP was 140/120 at the docs... but they didn't seem to care.
So, my question is: does anyone know if there are any vitamins or anything I can take with this to help keep that in check? I'm not sure why it took so long to mess with my BP and heart rate, especially since I have quit drinking soda and SIGNIFICANTLY slowed down smoking cigarettes. I do not take any other medications besides tylenol for the occasional headache. I'm hoping there may be a vitamin that would help with it... because the only other thing I can think of trying is something like xanax, which I would really, really prefer to stay the hell away from. See crazy doc note above, lol...
I finally feel more like myself than I have in a long, long time and have been able to get back on top of things with my family life so I would love to just stay where I'm at. The adderall gives me no high whatsoever ... I actually don't even get the movement that most people do, I guess... I just feel more capable of getting things taken care of and figuring it all out.
Suggestions, please?
