Stimulants Adderall Makes Me Sleepy After 2 Year Break - Why?

I was on probation for 2 years for getting caught with Adderall and I just finished that sentence 2 days ago. I got an rx for it and began by taking 10mg.

It had no effect! Well, no good ones anyway.. I took another 1 hr later and still nothing appreciatable.. I was a tad jittery and became grumpy and apathetic after about 4 hours.. I took 10mg yesterday and I just really wanted a nap. Today I took 20mg and 1/2tsp of baking soda dissolved in water. I was slightly more awake but no other effects.

Two years ago, I loved them. I loved everything about life, including mundane schoolwork, which I did quite easily. I usually took 20mg a day but 10mg worked pretty well. I didn't use them recreationally.

Why would after two years, when my tolerance should be low, would Adderall have complete opposite effects?

Because I assumed my tolerance would start building, I began taking 100mg Mg Taurate at night and 60mg Delsym DXM each morning for about a week.

What happened to my brain??

I did not take any Mg the night before or DXM yesterday morning with my 10mg Adderall. Today I didn't take anything either.
I'm not sure if it is worth mentioning but I now am on levothyroxine for Hypothyroidism.. I also took bupropion for about 9 months and ended it July 9th..
I've also tried Dexedrine IR and XR and Focalin and those had no effect as well..I tried those medications before I started the bupropion and my hypoT treatment though...

I used addy pretty heavily for a while, then stopped because I didnt want to do it anymore. I did it again, oh 3 or more months after that and didnt like it again for a long time

Is this XR or IR, and is it generic amphet salts by any chance? Cause my buddy just got some orange capsules of gener. adderall and he's kinda having the same complaints.

Try railing like 20-30mg of focalin, if you don't feel anything, then something def might be wrong haha

IR lol the blue ones from Barr...yeah I definitely think generics can play a big part so in the next week I'm gonna ask for the name brand...
haha the Focalin I have are over a year old...the Focalin never did much for me either, just woke me up a bit..

It comes down to physiology/brain chemistry. Sometimes amphetamines can produce those kinds of paradoxical effects.


All versions of Adderall are the same. They're all 4 amp salts in the same ratios; it's only the binders/fillers and time-release mechanisms which vary. Subsequently, stronger effects may be perceived from certain IR formulations which rapidly enter the bloodstream- Or
a delayed and seemingly weaker effect is experienced due to time release mechanisms, as with the capsule versions.

do you have any examples of what could change the chemistry? Since I was on probation, I didnt consume any mind-altering substances.. I have NO idea what was different compared to before I got in trouble..

"Set and setting" still applies to amphetamines, if you are in e.g. a grumpy mood, don't expecty them to make you feel amazing, they might just make you feel spun.

I'll take that into consideration but I don't think that those two things were too much of an influence in my case because I've been in a pleasant mood each time

Well, even after a long hiatus, 20mg is a pretty damn weak dose. Try 40mg imo, see what happens. That being said, IR's shit on XR, I really don't care for XR, at all. Good luck, sir!

Well, excusssssssssse me! Hahahaha, I'd say try 30 then, since you're a female and your breed seems to be less tolerance than others. (I mean that in the most respectful way! :D Consider yourself lucky!)

it's just before, I could tell when I was getting tolerant...
Now, it's completely different...no euphoria, no focus, no motivation...
And when it wears off, I'm tired, apathetic, can't get off the couch...

So weird..

Well, I took 70mg Vyvanse for 2 years straight, everyday, when I was prescribed. It literally fucked my head (because of the dopamine levels being depleted).
Didn't touch them for over 2 years, and the first time I did it again I believe I ate 60mg IR addy and was amped. Tolerance does stay for a long while with amphetamines, but, I wouldn't push your bodies limits, champ.
If 30mg does it for you, then you're golden, if not redose! But, be safe.

well if this keeps up, I don't think I'll be taking them...
I can't ever believe I would say that...I loved it so much that it was one of the main reasons I stayed clean through my probation...besides the whole freedom thing...

Yeah, the peak of a dextroamphetamine high is fucking awesome, very good feeling. If you don't want to take em because they're not doing it for you, that's fuckin' prime. I hope you can stick with that, sir! :D

Do you know of any supplements that help Adderall? like Tyrosine? that might change how Adderall feels?

To be quiet honest, I just took them by itself, aside combined with opiates, which definitely did NOT help, at all. I heard baking soda helps, but, I've never tried. I just upped my dose when I wanted to get more out of it.

Like I said, upping the dose seems to be your best bet (10mg at a time would be about right, seeing as Dextroamphetamine would be hard to Overdose on, but, not impossible) Start at 30 and work your way up from there! Let me know how it goes girl!
