just out of curiosity because ive been trying to find something for bipolar and depression and prozac and other such antidepressants/ssris havent really done the trick for me...ive recently been experimenting with adderal and i feel as if i has some qualities to affect my mood as well as my attention and focus. it feels like a miracle drug
can someone explain if it has any effects on serotonin and just how that works in general?

BTW the prozac and other such drugs have been prescribed...the adderal is not currently but just to see if maybe i could can the other shit im currently on for one thing that helps in multiple areas on my life

Adderall actually mainly affects levels of dopamine and norepinephrine, both increasing the amount of both and acting as a very strong dopamine reuptake inhibitor and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.

Adderall is a mixture of 4 amphetamine salts; racemic amphetamine aspartate monohydrate, racemic amphetamine sulfate, dextroamphetamine saccharide, and dextroamphetamine sulfate. Each has a different peak so the idea is the mixture of the 4 is smoother and takes less dosing than a single amphetamine such as ritalin. Once ingested adderall has a very strong effect on your limbic system (brains reward system) causing a large sense of euphoria. As far as depression adderrall can give that extra push for inspiration and confidence, reminding users of how they used to be before they became depressed.

Personally i am prescribed adderall for add and a mild case of dyslexia. It has been a complete god send from me, turned me from a trouble student into a straight A student. If it weren't for adderall i wouldn't be in college right now. In the past i have had trouble with depression and bounced from a few different ssri's never finding one that suited me. Adderall does ease some pessimistic but the problem is it can also antagonize your depression and worsen it (being fine to manic crying bouts) which has happened to me on more than one occasion. I don't believe there are many doctors out there that do prescribe this for depression but if it is something you think would help you should speak with your doctor about it. I'd also like to recommend Cymbalta (which has effects on norepinephrine as well) , my psychiatrist recently started me on it and it is unlike any antidepressant i have ever taken and i really would recommend trying that over adderall daily for depression.

anyways hope this helps!

I wouldn'r reccomend you do this.

Adderall will greatly increase any mania you will have in the future. It will also make you more prone to manic episodes.

It will increase you confidence and arrogance....

Make sure you get a low dose, or you will be manic. Period.

You will have a surge of dopamine and adrenaline. Anything violent will bring pleasure.

there has to be something that can be used in conjunction with the adderal possibly a mood stabilizer...anti anxiety meds which i am prescribed buspar to balance out any manic episodes.. i find that it greatly increases my mood ...it allows me to be able to gather my thoughts and feelings and process them into words which i have never been able to do before i just get overwhelmed and shut down normally and then get even more upset on top of it..i feel that if were to go into my therapy sessions on a monitored dose of adderall id be able to discuss things that i once was unable to..
it helps in so many other areas of my life i feel more patient on it i have extreme motivation to put my life into motion..i dont feel apathetic anymore but its not even like a sense of jittery hyperness or shit like that i just feel the need to be on the go and have some sort of mental stimulation like doing research and stuff like that.
i talked to my mother about it and admitted the use and i gave her my points of how it has helped me and she agreed to go to a psychiatrist with me discuss this plan and a regimen of getting my mental health back on track and would hold on to the script.. im hoping it will work for me..
thanks for all the input everyone its greatly appreciated
