adderall for major tests ?

AFOAF was wondering if taking a recreationally dose of adderall for a person without ADD would help in taking serious tests such as the SAT ? Would it do more harm than good, or would it help to keep the person focused ?

Not a recreational dose, but a normal dose will help, yes. However, I think at least part of it is the placebo effect of: "Now I got the adderall, I better get cracking"
It helps to be in the same state when studying and at the test. So if you study on adderall try taking a small amount before the exam. This is called "state dependent learning."

I don't have the cites but I think it may have actually been on the SAT where amphetamine was shown to help normal people.
Regardless it has been demonstrated that reasonable doses of amphetamines help pretty much everyone perform on tests.
Yes recall is improved if you are in the same state both times, so if you have enough adderall you may want to try a practice run while on a fair bit (also so you an titrate to the right amount). However, I doubt the studies gave the people a bunch of amphetamine to practice on beforehand so if you can't get that much it is probably still worth it.
If you don't have time to titrate and aren't very experienced in adderall I suggest no more than 10-20mgs orally. If you take too much you will be antsy, impatient, less focused etc..
 
i find 20mg of adderall to be a wonderfull study partner. although i have never taken it right before a test, it doesn't strike me as a bad idea.
 
Definitely NOT a recreational dose -- if you are feeling too good while taking the test, you will be distracted.
Presuming you have no or little amphetamine tolerance, I would suggest NO MORE than 10 mg of adderall, taken ORALLY (DO NOT SNORT!!) about 30 minutes before the test.
 
What if you already built up a tolerance ? How much would you have to take to help build concentration ? The kid was making up stories again and came up with the false statement that... he has snorted 25 mg before and had chewed up 30 mg orally.... kids these days with their imaginations ha !
 
I was prescribed dexedrine, and my first time got around 1100 using 20mg.
The second time I took it, I choose to use nothing.......and got a 1540.
I dont know what this shows, if anything.
 
Don't take a recreationl dose b4 a major test or for studying. Stick with a normal dose. 10-20 mg would be perfect...
